- The Spanish Studies major and minor programs are more than a foreign language — they provide full immersion in a second language, culture, history, with a social and political context vital to living in increasingly diverse communities within the global climate.
- The curriculum emphasizes the unique role of Spanish-speaking communities throughout the world, offering challenging coursework, service learning opportunities, and study abroad programs that allow students to understand the complexities of Chicanx, Hispanic, Latin American, and Latinx cultures.

- Express information and opinions verbally in consistent, effective, and clear Spanish
- Write in Spanish using the disciplinary conventions and methodologies of literary and cultural analysis
- Comprehend oral discourse produced by native speakers of Spanish
- Analyze the main ideas of various cultural phenomena, such as literature, art, music, film and popular media
- Identify major artistic and cultural figures of the Spanish-speaking world in the context of their historical, cultural, and/or aesthetic traditions
- Appreciate the linguistic, ethnic, racial, religious, cultural and social diversity of Latin America, Spain and Latina/o and Hispanic communities within the US

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have an official secondary school transcript to get admission.
- Students required to maintain at least a 3.0 overall GPA.
Language Requirments:
- Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS or TOEFL scores.
- Students are required to submit an SAT or ACT score to be considered for admission.
International students who currently or will hold a degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction, do not need to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score report.
