- All Midway MBA degree candidates share a common core of course work in management, marketing, economics, research methods, business law, and global business.
- Each student in the Tourism and Event Management concentration will complete a history and evolution course on bourbon and tourism industry analytics course.
- Then students choose from among eight other courses to complete their concentration with courses covering Kentucky Bourbon tourism, Bourbon hospitality, visitor center operations, and a study abroad course around Scotland.s Malt Whisky Trail.
- Students also have the ability to customize their concentration in consultation with the program advisor regarding special topics and independent study courses.
- The Bourbon industry-focused courses are a unique offering and unlike any other program to truly help students learn the rich history and culture created around Kentucky Bourbon.
- The solid knowledge base gained while completing these core and concentration courses ensures that should students later choose to pursue opportunities outside of the hospitality and event planning industries, they’ll possess the transferable skills needed to successfully execute major career transitions.

Academic Requirements:
- Applicants must have completed a bachelors degree from an accredited university
- Submit official transcripts of high school and other education completed
- Applicant must have completed foundation of business course if degree is not in business area
- Applicant must have a gpa of 3.0 or equivalent on a scale of 4.0
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum score of 550 in PBT; 213 in CBT; 79 in ibt
Scores Required
- Bachelor's degree with minimum GPA of 3.0
- There is no requirement for students to take the GRE or GMAT to apply for admission into this program.

- The Form I-20 or DS-2019 is required for a student to apply for the F-1 or J-1 visa stamp at a U.S. embassy or consulate abroad and to request admission into the U.S.
- These forms are issued through the U.S. government’s SEVIS database (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) and are created by ISSS for study at UNC-CH once a student has been admitted and submitted all other required documents. The Form I-20 or DS-2019 along with the I-94, are the documents that indicate an individual has been lawfully admitted into the U.S. or has been approved for a change of status within the U.S. They document the amount of time it normally takes to complete the course of study to which they have been admitted. Students who have not completed their course of study by the date indicated on Form I-20 or DS-2019 must apply for an extension prior to the current date of expiration. Form I-20 and DS-2019 also indicate a student’s level and field of study so if any of this information changes the form must be amended.
