- The MFA Design Program is a five-term 56-unit studio-based program that is designed to support the development of a personal contemporary practice that is both unique and sustainable. Students work closely with USC Roski's internationally acclaimed design faculty, as well as an expanded community of leading professional designers, artists, historians, critics, curators and culture makers who participate in regular Visiting Designer/Designer-in-Residence Forums.
- Expand the knowledge about the creative process, as exemplified by the study of specific works in design history, with a focus on understanding various creative methodologies. These methodologies become apparent in the historical projects, yet they can be applied in any contemporary, creative pursuit.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, from a college or university.
- The average cumulative high school GPA of students admitted is 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Students require a 4-year Bachelor's degree or Master’s degree (for 3-year Bachelor's degree holder) earned at an institution recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Note: A three-year bachelor’s degree in any subject is not considered sufficient for graduate study at the University of Southern California.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
