The undergraduate program is designed to prepare undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students to be classroom teachers in K-8 classrooms.
The Program Guide for Elementary Education is a tool to guide you through the requirements for completing the Elementary Education program. Although your advisor guides your progress toward program completion, the final responsibility for meeting all academic program requirements rests with you.
The elementary education major prepares students to teach kindergarten through sixth grade. Students complete course work in the foundations and methods of teaching. They also may complete requirements for an endorsement, choosing from reading, English/language arts, science, social science, and other areas.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit official transcripts of high school/secondary school with English translations
- Submit verification of graduation from high school or secondary school
- Applicant must have completed the following courses: 4 years of English; 3 years of Mathematics; 3 years of social studies; 2 years of the world language; 3 years of science
- Submit official SAT/ACT score
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 80 in iBT
- IELTS: minimum 6.5
- Duolingo: minimum 105
