University Mary Washington has an acceptance rate of around 70-80% every year. It offers UG as well as PG courses to the students seeking to study in the USA through its three faculties namely, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business, and College of Education. UMW opens for admission during the fall, spring and summer sessions and accepts applications on a rolling and space-available basis. Aspirants can apply via the UMW Application or The Common Application whichever is suitable along with the payment of 50 USD as a processing fee.

One needs to gain an IELTS score of 6.5 and a TOEFL iBT score of 80 to demonstrate command of the English language. For UG admissions, an average SAT score of 500 is acceptable. University of Mary Washington International Students Admissions

The University accepts International students, provided they have met all the guidelines laid down by the university. The applicants should have the requisite secondary education in accordance with the curriculum provided by the college. They should have the minimum grade points equivalency, should have submitted all academic records, provided proof of financial support for one academic year and met the mentioned guidelines. Even though the admission process for domestic and international students is the same, however, there are some additional requirements for international applicants.

English Proficiency Test Score for International Students

The candidates whose native language is not English and have had a major amount of education in a non-English medium need to provide proof of their English proficiency through tests accepted by UMW. The minimum required scores by the University are:

Visa Process for International Students

International Students can apply for a US student VISA after the University issues an application letter. Post receiving the acceptance letter from the University, to apply for the VISA, candidates need to have a Certificate of Eligibility I-20 form which is usually issued by the Department of Homeland Security. Candidates have to submit the necessary documents following which the I-20 form will be released by the Centre for International Education (CEI). For International Applicants the following documents are required:

  2. Request for an I-20 form
  3. Bank statements(as mentioned earlier)
  4. A copy of the Passport photo page
  5. Due dates: Mid-June(Fall term), Mid-October(Spring term)

To apply for VISA candidates have to fill the DS-160 form and then pay the VISA application fee. Following this, students can schedule an interview with the nearest U.S Embassy. Candidates have to submit the following documents before the U.S Embassy or Consulate:

The University of Mary Washington provides over 80 major, minor and courses of study for the students. The applicants will have to submit the official college transcripts directly to the UMW. Once the application is accepted, candidates are notified through an acceptance letter. Following this, candidates need to apply for VISA, establish health/medical Insurance and make the necessary travel arrangements. They also need to apply for an I-20 form. The I-20 form is usually sent out via mail as per the applicants mentioned choice in the form. Candidates can also choose to personally pick up their form.
