  • As a UD Intervention Specialist major, students will learn the knowledge and skills necessary to become a highly qualified teacher with an understanding of students at various ages and stages of development, and from various cultures, socioeconomic levels, ethnic groups, and ranges of abilities.
  • Students will learn how family diversity (i.e. economic, linguistic, cultural, and ethnic lines) impacts students, as well as understand how disabilities affect each student.
  • Classroom observation & field experience begin during years one and continue during years two and three. Students will receive more than 600 field hours in local schools, which is 300 hours more than the State of Ohio's requirement.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility: 

  • Students must have an official secondary school transcript to get admission.
  • Students required to maintain at least a 3.0 overall GPA.

Language Requirments:

  • Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS or TOEFL scores. 
  • Students are required to submit an SAT or ACT score to be considered for admission. 

International students who currently or will hold a degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction, do not need to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score report.
