The BA in English and Secondary Education prepares students for teacher certification and a career in teaching. Complementing this track, the department offers courses to satisfy Georgia requirements for an endorsement (to teacher certification) for English as a Second or Other Language (ESOL)

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Requirements:

  • Submit official transcripts of all the previous coursework with evaluation by NACES
  • Official transcripts must include course by course evaluation and document by document evaluation
  • Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or equivalent
  • Submit SAT or ACT scores with minimum score of 480 in evidence based reading/writing and 440 in Maths (old SAT), 440 in critical reading and 410 in Math (new SAT), 17 in English or 17 in reading and Maths (ACT)
  • Submit English language proficiency scores

English Language Requirements:

  • TOEFL: minimum 79 in iBT
  • IELTS: minimum 6.5
  • Pearson: minimum 58
  • MET: minimum 59
