- Perhaps it’s the sound of the language or the culture’s 2,500-year-old history that draws you in. Maybe it’s art and architecture, films and food, Rome and Florence. As an Italian language and literature major at Fordham, students will become fluent speakers, reader, and lover of Italian culture.
- In the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, students will study Italian language, culture, and literature—the focus of our program—from medieval through modern times. Students will study Dante, Petrarch, and Boccaccio—and Rossellini, Pasolini, and Fellini.
- They draw on a long Jesuit tradition of scholarship on and respect for the world's diverse languages and cultures—and virtually all of them are in New York City. From cultural events to people on the streets, New York City is their classroom for learning Italian.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have an official secondary school transcript to get admission.
- Students required to maintain at least a 3.0 overall GPA.
- Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS or TOEFL scores.
International students who currently or will hold a degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction, do not need to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score report.
