I applied to Northeastern not thinking that I would be allowed in but I was! I also applied to more safe schools such as a CUNY (I’m from Long Island) and a few SUNY schools. I joined the BSIB program to see the world and develop a healthy perspective of global politics and operations at large.
Course Curriculum
I think it allows students to get a taste of almost every discipline of business before declaring a concentration.
Exams
I don’t think that there is a specific minimum so to speak because Northeastern looks at candidates holistically, meaning that they aren’t eliminated from admission because of one bad grade necessarily. Average scores are in the 1400s and 1500s, though. I took about 10 AP exams but only got credit on 4 of them.
Placement
The Placements are Unbeatable. Very often, co-op positions offer full-time jobs after graduation and the networking you get from this is incomparable. The starting salaries tend to be above the industry average and job placement is very very high.
Internship
The college offer Internship opportunities. We invented the co-op program!! Starting in someone’s second year, you can apply for a co-op, which is sometimes paid, sometimes not an internship that takes the place of classes. You don’t have to pay tuition while at a co-op and they help you a lot to find one with an awesome database
Fees
The tuition is very expensive for international students because they do not usually need the money to come to Northeastern so they often pay full price. Northeastern gives many students financial aid.
Scholarship
I receive a scholarship that was merit-based for about $25,000 per year, they have a need and merit-based I believe. I had to use a loan.
Examination Structure
The exam structure is Traditional, finals are common.
Faculty
The Faculty to student ratio is a nice small ratio, 1 to 23 average or so. Lecture style and interactive lessons and group work as well. Most if not all professors have a professional background and usually international at that!!
Hostel
All freshmen have to live on campus no matter what and the dorms were clean and nice! My dorm was called White Hall and I was very lucky to live there. All business majors live there and I made friends through the LLC program. An LLC program is a grouping of people based on their majors.
