- Biochemistry is a broad and flexible discipline that uses numerous approaches to investigate chemical and genetic mechanisms that regulate living matter.
- Biochemistry helps explain processes that occur within living cells, which contributes to the study and understanding of whole organisms.
- The findings of biochemistry are applied primarily in medicine, nutrition and agriculture. In medicine, biochemists investigate the causes and cures of disease. In nutrition, they study health maintenance and the effects of nutritional deficiencies. In agriculture, biochemists investigate soil and fertilizers, and try to discover ways to improve crop cultivation, crop storage and pest control.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
- Send official secondary school transcripts, in English, provided to Alma College directly from your school.
- Provide English Language Proficiency (official score reports required, but can be emailed to admissions@alma.edu)
- TOEFL iBT score of 79 (school code: 1010)
- IELTS score of 6.5
- Total SAT score of 980 (school code 1010) or ACT score of 18 (school code 1958)
- ELS Language Center Level 112
- Grade of C or higher in English Composition from an accredited U.S. college/university
- An SAT Reading score of 500 or an ACT English score of 20 may also be utilized.
- All international students on F-1 or J-1 visa are required to provide evidence of sufficient finances to support their U.S. education. Sources of funding may be from parents, guardians, or a sponsor.
