The first two years encompass a pre-nursing curriculum phase before students can apply to be admitted into the clinical phase of the program.
As part of a summer clinical course option, nursing students will work alongside Guatemalan native Dr. Layla Chanquin, seeing patients in her clinic as well as in local schools and homes. Students can help with patient care, medicine distribution, monitoring growth and health of Guatemalan students, and providing home care for people suffering from respiratory, gastrointestinal, or other health-related issues. Guatemala City, Guatemala is just one of several partnership opportunities being developed for our JBU nursing students to fulfill part of their required clinical hours.
