Lewis and Clark College International Student Admissions

Lewis and Clark currently have around 200 students on campus from six continents and more than 70 countries. Students are supposed to apply either through online mode via Common Application or through the paper. The application process for Domestic and International processes is not very different. That being said, International students are expected to meet a few additional criteria.

  • A personal Essay must be attached.
  • Official transcripts from all attended schools and colleges in their original language with English translations.
  • Financial Documents include a certificate of Financial Responsibility and proof of available funds.

US Visa for International Students

An acceptance letter would be issued by Lewis and Clark College, after which the student is supposed to apply for a visa to study in the USA. An I-20 form and also, if applicable a financial aid award letter would also be issued by the college. All students (F-1 status) and exchange visitors (J-1) applying for US visas are supposed to pay a nonrefundable visa/SEVIS fee prior to visiting the US Consulate apply for a visa. As of June 24, the fee is US USD 350 for F-1 students and US USD 220 for J-1 exchange visitors.

Students must submit all the documents given below while applying for a visa:

  • A Valid Passport
  • I-20 Form given by Lewis and Clark.
  • Copies of English test results like TOEFL.
  • A financial aid award letter(if applicable).
  • The candidate’s Bank statement from the last six months.
  • A receipt indicating that the candidate has paid the USD 200 Student/Exchange Visitor processing fee.
  • Any other letters which prove that the student is financially strong and will return to his home country after his study in the United States.

Students applying for certification programs like eating disorders, ecopsychology and Master of Arts in Student Affairs Administration must have an undergraduate GPA of 2.75 and a Graduate GPA of at least 3.0/4 (83%-86%). Students who fail to meet these minimum criteria must submit a letter explaining their academic performance and record.

While Lewis and Clark College focuses on having students seeking to study in the USA with diverse talents and backgrounds, they also want students to go through the rigorous academic challenges that would lead them to individual growth and personal and professional achievement.
