Manhattan School of Music Deadlines

The school has a specific deadline for different tasks as shown in the table which is given below:

Manhattan School of Music International Admissions

Admission process for international students is quite different from domestic students.

Academic Requirement:

  • Unofficial transcripts and proof of degree need to be uploaded during the online application process
  • Submit official transcripts to the MSM in the English language with attestation from your institution.
  • Original official transcripts are also required to be submitted which must be sent by your past school to MSM by August 1
  • TOEFL and IELTS are highly recommended
  • 3.0 GPA is required.

Applicants need to all supporting documents during the online admission process. The deadline to submit the documents February 1. Documents are given below:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Artistic resume
  • Personal photo
  • Essay and essay prompt
  • Repertoire studied (all program except musical theatre and contemporary)

Audition Requirement

Prescreening is required for the initial admission process. You should submit a video recording to be considered for an invitation to a live audition. Upload the recording directly to your application.

Recording should not be record professionally and studio recording is not required, but the sound quality should be as good.

English Proficiency Requirement for International Application

Manhattan School of Music highly recommends the submission of TOEFL and IELTS score for international students. They conduct an in-house English assessment during the audition week, this is for those students whose first language is not English.

The English Assessment comprised is 3 parts of listening, reading and interview. The result of the assessment will help to determine your English level.

Visa Process for International Requirement

  • After the admission has been offered to the applicants, the institution will provide details on how to apply for a student visa with your acceptance.
  • Apply for the SEVIS Form I-20, which will be issued by the MSM
  • Applicant then needs to apply for the F-1 student visa

Note: The Application process for the Form I-20 and F-1 student visa can take several weeks.

  • Transfer admissions determine by their auditions and only refer to their performance level. It does not refer to academic status.
  • Music courses do not transfer, but credit can be obtained in certain areas through placement exams
  • Transfer students must be required to complete and submit SEVIS Form I-20
