US Unveils Education Strategy fit for a hyper-connected world

US Department of Education recently published an international Education Strategy with an objective to train students for a ‘hyper-connected world’. This Strategy was released by Under Secretary Miguel Cardona, who stated that it’s the main objective is to address global concerns.

He also added that the Education Strategy will focus on “objective of becoming a country where diversity, global problems and opportunities, economic competitiveness, national security and diplomacy are the reality.”

The Education Strategy is based on two main goals - furthering the United States of America’s international agenda and improving the quality of education at home (US). In addition to this, the strategy will also help in enhancing students’ global and cultural knowledge, while taking part in active education diplomacy and learning from other nations.

Jill Welch, Senior Policy Advisor at the Presidents’ Alliance, commented, ‘It’s good to see the Department demonstrating how it intends to focus on international education as part of its strategy for strengthening U.S. education and advancing U.S. international priorities.’

US Department of Education plans to attain this objective by connecting bilaterally with other countries and actively participating in more international projects. The Department hopes to learn more about education systems in other countries and vice versa by participating in such activities.

In this regard, the Strategy states, ‘The department also participates in reviewing and developing declarations, resolutions and reports – education diplomacy is an important component of US engagement that builds goodwill and provides and avenue for regular and positive engagement.’
