IIT Palakkad MTech Admission 2024: Fees, Cutoff, Dates, Eligibility, Placement

IIT Palakkad MTech admissions are based on GATE Score followed by COAP counselling. For IIT Palakkad MTech Admission 2024, GATE Registrations have started from August 30. The closing date of regular registration is October 12, 2023. Along with that, the deadline for extended online registration or application process (with late fee) is 20^th October, 2023. 

IIT Palakkad offers MTech program in 6 different specialisations like Power Electroncis & Power Systems, Computing Mathematics, Data Science, System-On-Chip deisgn, Manufacturing and Materials Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering. IIT Palakkad MTech admission is done on the basis of marks secured in the GATE exam and COAP counselling process. For the year 2023, IIT Palakkad has participated in 10 rounds of COAP counselling. 

IIT Palakkad MTech program contains course-work, laboratory, project work and dissertation. It is expected by the institute for the students to maintain 100% attendance and the minimum percentage of attendance is 85. IIT Palakkad also follows a grading system based on the students’ performance. According to the grading system, the highest and the lowest grade is 10 and 0 respectively.

• IIT Palakkad offers the M.Tech programme of 4 semesters duration.
• Students are eligible to take extra courses apart from the courses prescribed in the curriculum, subject to a maximum of 6 credits, provided a student has no backlog and has a CGPA of 7.0 & above.

GATE 2023 COAP Registration Process

After passing the GATE entrance exam, candidates are to register for the COAP counseling process to secure their admission into IITs, NITs, and other participating institutes. COAP provides a common platform for the registered candidates to make the most preferred choice for admission into an M.Tech. Program in the participating Institutes. 

Eligibility Criteria to Register for COAP 2023

1. The candidate must be a citizen of India.
2. Candidates should have a valid GATE score from 2023/2022/2021.

GATE 2023 COAP Step by Step Registration Process:

The candidates can successfully apply for GATE COAP 2023 by simply following the below:

Step 1: Visit the official website of COAP @ coap.iitd.ac. and click on the registration link.

Step 2: Fill in details such as their GATE Registration Number, GATE Paper Code, GATE score, date of birth.

Step 3: Click on the “Validate” icon and enter the registered email id and mobile number.

Step 4:Click on the “Submit to Register” button.

Step 5: After the registration is successfully done for COAP 2023, the candidates will obtain a Login ID and Password for COAP Login. The same will be sent via Email and SMS.

Step 6: The COAP registration will only be considered as complete only if the candidates log in using the Login ID and Password and verify the registration details.

Step 7: After the completion of the above-given steps, the candidate can access the information on offers made from the participating Institutes.

Step 8: In the end, the admission offer will be uploaded at COAP website and will be tagged with COAP registration number (same as GATE registration number without subject code).

IIT Palakkad MTech Course Details

• About two-thirds of the total credits involve coursework and laboratory, and the
• remainder consists of project work / dissertation.
• The curriculum should be so drawn up that the minimum number of credits for successful completion of the M.Tech programme of any stream is 60 ± 3 credits.
• Students are expected to have 100% attendance in all the courses. The minimum attendance requirement for completion of any course is 85%.
• The programme of instruction for each stream of specialisation will consist of:

Indian Nationals with GATE qualification pursuing M.Tech will get Financial assistance of Rs.12,400/- p.m. in the form of HTTA (Half-Time Teaching Assistantship) for a maximum period of 24 months.

Students under HTTA need to assist the academic and curricular activities of the institute for a duration of 8 hours of work per week. The activities could include different activities like laboratory demonstration, evaluation of assignments, tutorials, test papers, research projects, seminars, etc.
