IIT Palakkad MS Eligibility Criteria
- For M.Sc. in Chemistry, Candidates who have passed the JAM (Joint Admission Test for Masters) and have a Bachelor's degree with Chemistry as a subject for 3 years/ 6 semesters and Mathematics at the 10+2 level.
- For M.Sc. in Physics, JAM (Joint Admission Test for Masters) qualified candidates who are also having Bachelor’s degree with Physics as a subject for at least 2 years / 4 semesters and Mathematics for at least 1 year/ 2 semesters.
- For M.Sc. in Mathematics, JAM (Joint Admission Test for Masters) qualified candidates who are also having Bachelor’s degree with Mathematics courses for at least 2 years / 4 semesters.

Admissions to MS course at IIT Palakkad are based on the cutoff list prepared by the institute. The cutoff lists are based on respective entrance examination marks.
How to Apply?
You can go through the following steps to apply at IIt Palakkad.
- You can fill your application to IIT Palakkad online through the official website https://pgadmit.iitpkd.ac.in/
- Go through the notifications and register yourself on the COAP 2021 website before applying in this portal.
- Create an account for yourself in the portal using the link.
- Check your mail. You should receive a welcome email.
- Log in with your username and password credentials.
- Fill all your personal details.
- Fill all the qualification details. In case you have multiple qualifications, keep filling them one by one.
- Fill Your GATE details. In case of multiple GATE, keep filling them one by one.

- Upload all the necessary documents.

IIT Palakkad MS Course Details
M.Sc. in Chemistry: Instead of following a conventional framework, the M.Sc. (Chemistry) curriculum at IIT Palakkad has been developed in a very contemporary and effective format. The focus is on assisting students in gaining a sufficient breadth of knowledge on the various sub-disciplines of chemistry while also allowing them to delve deeper into their preferred areas.
- It is a four semester long program.
- This course is designed emphasizing structure, reactivity and synthesis. Under this, Physical, inorganic, organic, and interdisciplinary biochemistry fundamentals will be covered, as well as many other key theoretical and experimental fundamentals.
- The first two semesters will have all the common core courses.
- The next two semesters will have the electives and a project as the major components of the semester, and will contain both the theory and experiments.

M.Sc. in Physics: Students who have completed a Bachelor's degree in basic sciences with Physics as a subject for at least two years are eligible to apply for the MSc Physics programme. The shortlisting is based on the national level test, i.e. Joint Admission Test for MSc (JAM) which is conducted by IITs.
- It is a four semester long program.
- In the first two semesters, students will take core theory courses that will focus on the fundamentals of the subject, as well as laboratory courses that will allow them to investigate and become familiar with classic experiments in the field.
- In the next third and fourth semester, the students will have the opportunity to take advanced electives (theory) and laboratory courses that are at the cutting edge of research, as well as a one-year project led by experts in the field.

M.Sc Program in Mathematics: The M.Sc. in Mathematics programme gives the students a strong mathematical base and allows them to specialise in various areas like applied mathematics, pure mathematics, data sciences, and also theoretical computer science.
- The given curriculum has 12 core courses along with 8 electives.
- All chosen students will also have the option of pursuing a project in lieu of some electives, allowing them to gain hands-on experience in a particular field.
- It is expected that graduates of this master's programme will be able to pursue careers in both academia and industry as a result of this curriculum.
- In the last two years of the programme, there are eight electives that allow students to focus on topics other than pure mathematics. Some of them are: applied mathematics, theoretical computer science, and data sciences.

IIT Palakkad MS Scholarships and Freeships
Establish an MCM Scholarship for 25% of the sanctioned intake/admitted strength, whichever is less. The full tuition fee will be waived in this case, along with a monthly payment of Rs. 1000/-.
There are Scholarships under Prof. Valsakumar Memorial Scholarships for M.Sc. Physics Students:
- One student will receive a Merit Award, which includes a certificate of appreciation and Rs. 5000/- in prize money.
- Only one student gets Prof. Valsakumar Merit cum Means Scholarship of Rs.35000/- per semester.
