BGU Bhubaneswar MBA & MBA (Business Analytics) Selection Criteria

Admission will be granted on the basis of the candidate’s performance in the National-level Entrance Exam followed by GD & PI. 

Following is the detailed selection criteria for Merit (General) category students:

Note- Suitable weightages for Work Experience, Academic & Regional Background, and Professional Qualification, etc. are also given.

BGU Odisha also conducts its own entrance test for MBA admission. 

• After the screening of the application, eligible candidates will be informed of the date and venue of the selection process. 
• The selection process consists of a 300-word write-up to evaluate candidates’ writing ability, followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview at various centers.

GD & PI will be held at Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Ranchi, Patna, Jamshedpur, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Greater Noida between December to January.

At the PG level, the institute offers the following courses for a duration of two years.

• M.A. JMC
• M.Com.
• M.A. Economics

Note- The duration of all postgraduate programs offered by the University is 2 years except for LLM program, which is offered for 1 year.

BGU Bhubaneswar PG Selection Criteria

Admission to all these PG courses is based on a written test followed by a personal interview.

For LLM Course – The University shall conduct LL.M Entrance Test (LET) for each academic session. Admission shall be made according to merit in the LET subject to the fulfilment of eligibility requirement as determined by the University and availability of seats in LL.M. Course. The students who have passed the CLAT or LSAT examinations shall also be allowed to join the course subject to availability of seats.

BGU Bhubaneswar offers BBA (Hons), BAJMC (Hons), BA (Hons), B.Com (Hons), B.Sc (Hons.), BBA. LLB (Hons) as UG courses. 

BBA is offered with the following three specializations-

• General
• Business Analytics
• Digital Marketing

Note- Candidates belonging to SC and ST will get a relaxation of 5%. Candidates appearing in final examinations can also apply.

BGU Bhubaneswar UG Selection Criteria

Admission to all the UG courses (except for BBA LL.B) will be done on the basis of Merit followed by a Written Test and Personal Interview.

Admission to the BBA LL.B program will be done on the basis of- CLAT/AILET/XLET/BGU Admission Test score.

Ph.D. is offered under the following areas of disciplines-

• Management
• Economics

At the research level, the university offers a Ph.D. in Management in 6 specializations with an intake of 20 students. The minimum eligibility to apply is a Master’s degree with 55% marks or grade B in the UGC 7-point scale.

BGU Bhubaneswar Ph.D. Selection Criteria

Admission to the program will be based on an Entrance Test conducted by the University centrally. However, candidates who have qualified UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/SLET/GATE/Teacher fellowship holder or have passed M.Phil. program through entrance test are exempted from the Ph.D. Entrance Test. 

The selection process will comprise of two stages-

Stage 1

• An Entrance Test shall be conducted with qualifying marks as 50%. 
• The syllabus of the Entrance Test shall consist of 50% of Research Methodology and 50% shall be subject-specific. 
• The Entrance Test shall be conducted at the Centre(s) notified in advance by the University. The written test shall be qualifying for the viva-voce.

Stage 2

• An interview/viva-voce is to be organized by the University where the candidates are required to discuss their research interest/area through a presentation before a duly constituted Subject Research Committee. 
• The final list of candidates selected for admission into the Ph.D. program shall be prepared by the Board. 

The interview/viva-voce will consider the following aspects:

• The candidate possesses the competence for the proposed research; 
• The research work can be suitably undertaken at the Institution.
• The proposed area of research can contribute to new/additional knowledge.

• Scheme 1: Under this scheme, a fee waiver of 15% is offered to the students who have secured a minimum percentile of 60% marks or equivalent in class 10th, 12th, and graduation along with a minimum 60 percentile in CAT/XAT/GMAT.
• Scheme 2: 10% of a fee waiver is offered to the students who have secured a GP of 60% or equivalent in class 10, 12 and Graduation and have secured a minimum of 60 percentile in MAT/CMAT/GBU Entrance test.
