NBU Ph.D: Fees 2025, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

North Bengal University offers research courses in diverse fields like Applied Sciences, Commerce, Arts, Engineering & Technology. The full-time Ph.D course has a duration of 6 years and is offered in a number of 20 specializations.

The university invites application form in varied disciplines for the Academic Year in online mode. Candidates who hold a Master's degree in a relevant subject with a minimum of 55% Marks are eligible for admission. Interested candidates can visit the university website and fill the application form after remitting an amount of INR 1500. Selection to Ph.D program depends upon the performance in Entrance Test, which is further followed by  Viva-Voce/ Interview. 

UGC- NET/ UGC – CSIR NET/ SLET/ SET/ GATE qualified applicants or teachers of this university/ fellowship holders/ M.Phil. degree holders with at least 55% marks are exempted from appearing in the entrance test. North Bengal University Ph.D Admission Process

Admission process for Ph.D in NBU can be understood from the following points as mentioned:-

1. First of all, candidates must fulfil the eligibility criteria as prescribed by the university.
2. Selection of candidates is based on the performance of the students in the entrance examination.
3. Half syllabus of the entrance examination consists of the research methodology and rest is based on the specific subject.
4. Candidates must secure at least 50% in the entrance examination to get in panel for viva-voce.
5. After succesful conduction of entrance exam, viva-voce is conducted by the concerned department.
6. Also, the candidates have to give a presentation regarding the topic of their research before duly constituted DRC.

In the entrance test, 50% shall be the qualifying marks. The syllabus of the entrance test shall consist of 50% of research methodology and 50% shall be subject-specific.

Applicants who have qualified UGC- NET/ UGC – CSIR NET/ SLET/ SET/ GATE, or who are teachers of this university/ fellowship holders/ M.Phil. degree holders with at least 55% marks are exempted from the Entrance Test. However, these candidates have to appear for the interview / viva-voce part of the entrance test.

Documents Required at the time of Admission:

1. Xerox of Academic certificates.
2. Original Copies of all the certificates (For Verification).
3. Caste Certificate (For SC candidates).
4. UGC- NET/ UGC – CSIR NET/ SLET/ SET/ GATE score card (If applicable).

How To Apply?

Application process for M.Phill is online. Eligible candidates can visit the website of North Bengal University and follow the given process to complete the application process:

1. Register using a valid e-mail address and Mobile number.
2. Fill all the information correctly and attach scanned photocopy of passport size photograph and signature.
3. Remit the required application fee using Net Banking/ Credit card/ ATM-cum-Debit card/ SBI challan downloaded from NBU-SBI Portal. 
4. After getting confirmation, proceed to application process.
5. Select the course of your choice.
6. Provide all the required inforamtion i.e. Applicant Details, Correspondence Address and Parents details.
7. Confirm the status, submit and take a print out for record purpose.
