- Each B.A. course has different eligibility criteria-
B.A in Bengali- Candidates should have at least 50% in aggregate and score at least 60% in Bengali.
B.A. in English- Candidates should have at least 75% in aggregate.
B.A in Comparative Literature- Candidates should have at least 70% in aggregate and score at least two language subjects in 10+2. Candidate has to score 70% in each language respectively.
B.A in History- Candidates should have at least 65% in aggregate.
B.A in Philosophy- Candidates should have at least 50% in aggregate.
B.A in Sociology- Candidates should have at least 75% in aggregate.

Admission for BA programs at the Jadavpur University are based on the Senior Secondary qualifying examinations and the entrance test scores. The entrance test is conducted independently by Jadavpur University. The merit list is drawn up on the basis of 10+2 examination scores and entrance test scores. Candidates are admitted through the online admission process followed by selection through the drafted merit list.

The BA course has been divided into six semesters. B.A in Physical Education and B.A. in Education (B. Ed) are divided into four semesters across two years.
- Each semester consists of Lectures, Tutorials, Seminars and Projects.
- The curriculum allows students to choose amongst elective courses.
- 75% attendance in each semester is compulsory for a student to be eligible for appearing in end semester examinations.
- Students enrolled in B.A in Comparative Literature can choose between elective courses in Semester IV, V and VI.
- Students enrolled in B.A. in Economics (Hons.) will have a compulsory course on Mathematics in Semester I. Students in this course also have to perform a group project extending from Semester V to VI.
- Students enrolled in B.A in History can choose elective courses of their choices in the final semester.
- Students enrolled in B.A. in English can choose the required number of courses between 38 optional courses in Semester III, IV, V and VI in addition to extra departmental courses in the first four semesters. The total number of courses including core courses in each semester should be 4.
