Uttaranchal University offers doctorate degrees in multiple fields of study. The entire curriculum offers a total of 8 courses and is divided into 6 semesters. The university provides a Ph.D. for a total of 8 subjects which are management, law, Biotechnology, Computer science, chemistry, mechanical engineering, English, and Physics. The minimum eligibility is a master’s degree from a recognized university in the relevant field with at least 55% or more academic score. The candidate must also apply, attend and secure a valid score in the Uttaranchal university entrance exam (UUEE) to be eligible to apply for the Ph.D. course. Uttaranchal University Ph.D. Eligibility Criteria

  • A Master’s degree from a recognized University in a relevant field (in Engineering/ Technology/ Applied Science/ Humanities/ Social Sciences/ Commerce/ Law/ Management etc.,) with more than 55% marks in aggregate. The cut-off for backward category students is 45%, as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
  • The minimum cut-off for M. Phil candidates is at least 55% marks in aggregate and completing the M.Phil. The minimum cut-off range for backward category candidates is 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
  • Candidates possessing a Degree considered equivalent to M.Phil. from a foreign institution accredited by the ACCA which is approved, recognized, or authorized by an authority, established, or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accrediting, or assure quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. program.
  • A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, for SC/ ST/ OBC (non-creamy layer)/ differently-abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time, or for those who had obtained their master’s degree before 19th September 1991. The eligibility marks of 50% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures.

Uttaranchal University Ph.D. Admission Criteria

Candidates can apply both online and offline.

  • The candidate who wants to apply online can directly go to the website, and fill the admission form online, upload the required documents and pay INR 1200 for the admission fee.
  • The candidate who wants to apply offline can download the admission form, fill it, and send it along with the required documents, and a DD/ cash of INR 1200 by post to the admission center of UU.
  • Students who have qualified UGC-NET (including JRF)/ UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET/ GATE/ teacher fellowship holders will be exempted from the Entrance Examination only
  • All the supporting documents are subject to verification by the competent authority before confirming the admission to the Ph.D. program. In the absence of any required documents, a candidate will be granted provisional admission in the Ph.D. The program, which is subjected to cancellation, if not found a fit at a later stage.
