Sharda University PhD admission is available for both Full Time and Part Time categories. Candidates opting for a full-time Ph.D. program may be entitled to a “research fellowship/teaching assistantship” as per Sharda University rules. For Ph.D.:
- Candidates need to appear and qualify for the entrance test conducted by the authority for offering admissions to Ph.D. programs.
- GATE/NET qualified (valid up to 2 years) candidates don’t need to appear for the written test but have to appear and qualify for the interview.
- Candidates securing qualifying marks in the written test also need to clear the interview conducted by the authority.

SU, Greater Noida Ph.D. Eligibility Criteria
- A candidate must have cleared a post-graduate (PG) degree or the equivalent of a minimum duration of 2 years from a UGC-recognized Indian / foreign university in the respective discipline with a score of a minimum 55% or equivalent CGPA. A 5% relaxation in the score for SC/ST/OBC i.e minimum of 50% in PG degree or equivalent CGPA is allowed.
- Online Entrance Examination of Sharda University followed by an interview.
- Candidates with a valid selection from NET / GATE / SET / UET / any other equivalent test conducted by GOI accredited agency (to be decided by the selection committee) are exempted from the entrance test and get preference in selection. M.Phil. degree holders from UGC-accredited universities are also exempted from entrance tests.

- The entrance Test followed by an interview shall be conducted twice in a year normally in June and December. The weightage for the entrance test and interview shall be 70% and 30% respectively. Only those students securing at least 50% in theory and 50% in the interview separately shall be considered for admission.
- Candidates with M.Phil. Degree or equivalent degree from any other institute/university recognized by UGC or qualified with fellowship/scholarship offered by the University / National and International Agency / NET / GATE score will be exempted from the entrance test. However such candidates will have to appear for the Interview, along with the candidates who qualified for the entrance test.
- Foreign candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria will be admitted after an online test and Interview.
- Such persons who are in regular employment in Academic institutions, Research Institutes/ Corporate/ Industry / Public Undertaking / Government Sector, at a level not less than the level equivalent to Assistant Professor, and have five years of experience will be eligible for admission through a specially conducted entrance test followed by interview as per the criteria

SU, Greater Noida Ph.D. Course Details
- Each candidate admitted with a Master's degree shall complete a minimum of 14 credits of coursework. This would include a course in research methodology of 04 credits as a compulsory course. In addition, research scholars may take, with the approval of the DRC and SRC, an eight (8) credit course
- All candidates admitted to the Ph.D. programs shall be required to complete the coursework prescribed by the School / Department during the initial one or two semesters. However, in cases where a candidate had applied for transfer from another university/institution, exemption from course work can be considered by SRC subject to (i) earning required credits and having a passing CGPA and (ii) selection to the Ph.D. program through UGC-approved norms.
- A Ph.D. Scholar has to obtain a minimum CGPA of 6.0 in the course work in order to be eligible to Register for Ph.D. and continue in the program.
- Candidates already holding M.Phil. degree and admitted to the Ph.D. program may be exempted from the Ph.D. coursework by the SRC.

SU, Greater Noida Ph.D. Fellowship
The Full-Time Ph.D. Scholars of Sharda University will be eligible for the award of the Fellowship-cum-Assistantship, as per the criteria mentioned below:
- Fellowship-cum-Assistantship shall be awarded only to the full-time Ph.D. Scholars based on admission and proof of having taken and received a score in NET or score with validity in GATE or in similar other examinations accredited by University Grants Commission (UGC).
- Candidates without such scores will be awarded a fellowship as per existing amounts of INR18,000/- INR 19,000/- INR 20,000/- per month for a maximum period of 3 years, but under the conditions as per the present notification.
- Selection will be made through the merit list of the entrance test and the cutoff for the fellowship will be made on the basis of the number of fellowships available in the respective departments.
- The amount of fellowship cum assistantship will be INR 25,000/- per month for the first two years and INR 27,000/- per month for the third year. Third-year fellowship is subject to the publication of at least one paper in a Scopus-indexed journal. The University will withhold INR10,000/- per month till Research Plan is approved and then release the amount subject to the condition of completion of coursework within one year of admission.
