Indian Maritime University offers MBA with two specializations namely Port and Shipping Management at Chennai and Cochin campus and International Transportation and Logistics Management at Chennai, Kolkata, Visakhapatnam and Cochin campus. 

  • The duration of the programme is 2 years which consists of 4 semesters in total. Each year consists of 2 semesters. The schedule of the odd semester is from August to January and the even semester is scheduled from February to July. 
  • The eligibility criterion for getting admission into the MBA course is to hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from Recognized Universities. 
  • The application process for the course is online and admission is based upon marks in the IMU Common Entrance Test (IMU-CET). The institute holds a country rank of 251 and world rank of 7010 by UniRank.

Indian Maritime University MBA Eligibility criteria:

For being eligible to seek admission into the course of MBA,

  • The candidate needs to pass the 10+2 examination.
  • The candidate must be holding a bachelor's degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognized university (for general category) and 45% aggregate marks (in case of SC/ST).
  • The candidate shall have at least 50% marks in English subject in the 10th/12th/UG degree.
  • There is no age limit for admission to the MBA program.

Indian Maritime University MBA Admission criteria:

The candidates seeking admission into the MBA course shall apply online through the admission portal available on the official website of the university to appear for the Common Entrance Test (IMU-CET). The application fee charged in order to appear for the entrance test is INR 1000/- (for general category students) and INR 700/- (for SC/ST students).

How to apply?

  • Visit the official website and register yourself.
  • The system will generate an application number after you're done with the "basic registration process process".
  • The application number will be sent to you via email and SMS
  • For further logins, the student may use this application number as the login ID and his/her date of birth as the password.
  • In the detailed registration section, the student will be required to fill in all the detailed and necessary information like the address of correspondence, educational details, preferred choice of exam cities etc.
  • The student will also be required to upload the necessary scanned documents followed by the payment of CET registration fees.
  • After the payment of the registration fees, the student will receive a receipt which shall be kept for future reference.
  • The service or payment gateway charges for the online transaction shall be borne by the candidate only.
  • The student is required to choose the 'Awaiting Results' option if the 12th/UG exam results are awaiting.

After getting shortlisted, the candidates will have to register for the online counselling for the allotment of seats which will be followed with the verification of original mark sheets and certificate. For the online counselling, the student will be required to submit INR 10,000/- for registration which will be non-refundable.

The selection process will be based upon merit marks secured in the entrance test followed by the online counselling session.

  • State wise post matric scholarships are available for OBC/SC/ST and other minority category students.

Ques. What is a good IMU-CET rank to get admission?

Ans. A student shall score 160+ marks out of the total 200 marks in IMU-CET for a good chance of getting admission into the university. However, qualifying the entrance test won't guarantee admission. Last year, out of 16000 students who qualified the entrance test, only 1500 students were able to secure their seats in IMU.

Ques. What is the admission procedure for foreign student candidates at IMU for MBA?

Ans. MHRD nominates a central university to act as an agency for granting admission to foreign nationals at IMU. Both UG and PG admissions are granted to foreign student candidates through Direct Admission to Students from Abroad (DASA) Scheme.

Ques. What are the essential facilities available at IMU?

Ans. Facilities such as library, classrooms, hostel etc are being provided by the Indian Maritime University to the students. The hostel is able to accommodate at least 250 individuals whereas the library contains more than 8000 books, 40 journals/periodicals, projects and magazines etc. The university campus has also got 23 modern and well-equipped classrooms with audio and visual aids.

Ans. The Candidate is requested to forward his grievance along with the proof for having paid twice through the HoD of the respective Campus/Affiliated Institute who will consolidate these requests and forward the same to CoE's Office with the assent of the Director after 10 days from the last date for payment of Condonation. No individual request for refund will be entertained by IMU.
