There are two ways to look at this. LPU NEST is a compulsory entrance exam to seek admission to any of the engineering, MBA or any other courses at LPU. You can skip to appear for LPU NEST if you have qualified any national level entrance exam for the course you are applying to. If you have a JEE Main score for BTech or CAT/CMAT etc for MBA you can get direct admission at LPU.
However, in my opinion there are some advantages of appearing for the LPU NEST. If you qualify for it, you will eligible for a scholarship. The admission process is also very simple as everything is uploaded to the portal when you apply for LPU NEST and you just have to get it verified once selected.
LPUNEST is mandatory for some of the courses and is the minimum eligibility criteria as well, that you must fulfil. But for some courses it is only a scholarship test. So it is beneficial to appear for it as it will improve your scholarship as well.
With your 58% score, you can get admission at LPU but in some of their programs. There are various undergraduate programs at LPU with different eligibility criteria. For most of the undergraduate programs, LPU requires candidates to have at least 60% marks in class 12. If you are targeting courses like BTech, your marks will not be sufficient.
However, there are certain courses like BBA, BCA, BCom and more where your percentage may be enough to get selected. Along with your percentage, you have to clear the LPUNEST exam to get selected. You should score well in it to make up for your class 12 marks.
I would recommend you to first choose the course you are interested in and then contact the admission cell to get more details regarding your percentage. With low marks and a good LPUNEST score, you may be able to get admission. LPUNEST will also make you eligible for the scholarship.
LPU generally provides admission based on the LPUNEST entrance exam but also accepts other exams to provide admission. I have listed some of the top courses and the exams accepted below.
LPU is one of the premier education institutes in India known for its courses offered in various disciplines. Though admission to all the courses is based on the LPUNEST exam, the university also accepts other entrance exams like GATE, JEE Main, CUET and more to provide admission.
Other than the LPUNEST, the university also accepts CLAT scores to provide admission to its BA-LLB and BBA-LLB (Hons.) integrated courses. BA-LLB course is meant for students aspiring to legal education with social sciences to benefit society. BBA-LLB (Hons.) integrated course grooms aspiring lawyers for the corporate sector by providing legal practices and a foundation in management.
To be eligible for these courses, you are required to clear class 12 with English with 60% marks from a recognised board. Clearing LPUNEST is also recommended as it will provide you with the scholarship benefits.
Yes, a lateral entry admission at LPU for BTech will be a better option than other private universities. Here are the top reasons why:
To be eligible for BTech at LPU you only need an aggregate of at least 60% of marks in 10+2 (with Physics, Mathematics, and English).
Yes, a biology student is eligible for the BBA+MBA integrated program at LPU. You just need to qualify 10+2 (with English) with at least 60% of marks.
The eligibility criteria of seeking admission in LPU for MSc microbiology is that you must have passed an Bachelor's degree with 60% in any of the majors including Microbiology/ Applied Medical Science/ Medical Science & Allied Medical/ Agriculture / Biosciences/ Food Science/ MLT/ Life Sciences/ Veterinary Microbiology & Parasitology/ Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology/ Clinical Chemistry/ Public Health & Allied Sciences/ Plant Science and you will also have to pass LPUNEST.
Yes, LPU accept CUET score for admission in BTech. Also you can sit for the LPUNEST examination through which you will be able to secure up to 50% scholarship. The BTech courses of LPU are one of the best. The curriculum is industry-integrated and offers practical knowledge to the students. You will get to work at the ground level and get insights about how the industry works. There are multiple specializations for BTech that you can choose from. Also, keep in mind that the academics are rigorous so you will have to perform well. Try to have a well structured resume in order to get placed at the top companies. Make use of the various opportunities presented by LPU such as internships, workshops, seminara and try to learn as much as you can. Also, you can get to take part in various extracurricular activities because of the wonderful infrastructural facilities that LPU offers.
BTech CSE is an extensive program at LPU known for its comprehensive curriculum covering basic and advanced topics in computer science and engineering. Students are exposed to hands-on training through internships and industry projects. LPU’s strong industry connections and alumni network ensure students are placed in top tech companies.
To get selected for the BTech CSE course at LPU, you have to clear the LPUNEST, JEE Main or CUET exam, subject to fulfilling eligibility criteria. You have to produce a valid exam scorecard to secure your seat as it is part of the admission process. Without an entrance exam, you cannot get admission to BTech CSE at LPU. LPUNEST will also allow you to avail the scholarship.
You can also pursue specialised BTech CSE courses like CSE with AI and ML, cyber security and more allowing you to tailor your career goals according to your interests.
