The candidates must have a postgraduation degree from a recognized university
National University of Advanced Legal Studies offers a 5-year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) degree Programme and 1-year LLM programme along with two PG Diploma and research Ph.D programme. Admissions to all the courses in NUALS shall be done once in a year in July/August.
Only candidates with the relevant qualifying degree are eligible to apply for the above mentioned programmes. Selection of candidates to the Ph.D. programme (including admission to Recognized Institutions) shall be done on the basis of entrance examination, conducted by the university itself. Candidates applying for registration as Part-Time students shall be considered for registration only in cases where the Research Committee constituted is convinced that effective supervision can be ensured.

The selection Process will be based on performance in DAT Entrance exam and marks obtained in qualifying exam. The Departmental Admission Test (DAT) shall have two parts - Written test and Interview. The entrance exam will be held on May 01(tentative).
Candidates who have scored a minimum of 50% marks in the written examination will be eligible to be ranked for admission. For candidates belonging to SC/ST, the minimum marks for eligibility is 45%.
All candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. Programme who have passed the admission test with a minimum of 50% marks or who are exempted from the admission test shall be required to present themselves for an interview before the Research Committee or a Subcommittee constituted by the Research Committee.
The weightage for written test and interview for ranking will be as follows:

Separate rank lists shall be prepared for full time, part time and for those students who are exempted from DAT.
The admission lists and the waiting list of all eligible candidates shall be displayed on the notice boards of the University/Recognized Institutions. The rank list shall be valid till the December 31(tentative)
Candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. Programme shall submit applications in the prescribed format which will be issued directly from the office on submitting a DD for 500/-(Rupees Five hundred only) drawn in the name of Registrar, NUALS, Kochi.
Application forms can also be downloaded from the official website of NUALS. In case the application is downloaded, a DD for 500/- (Rupees Five hundred only) drawn in the name of Registrar, NUALS, Kochi shall also be attached while submitting the application form.
