CUSAT B.Tech(Lateral Entry) Eligibility Criteria
One must have a three-year Diploma in Engineering/Technology awarded by the Board of Technical Education recognized by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, with not less than 60% marks, will be considered for admission to the B.Tech. program through Lateral Entry Scheme.
The maximum age prescribed is 25 years as on 1st July of the year of admission.
The Candidates belonging to Kerala Scheduled Cast (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) communities are eligible for applying if they have minimum pass marks in the qualifying examinations.

Special Reservation:
Physically Challenged: 3% seats are reserved for physically challenged candidates with at least 40% disability for all B.Tech courses, except B.Tech Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture & Ship Building, Instrumentation, Polymer Science & Engineering and Safety & Fire Engineering. One seat each for all other academic programmes except M.Sc. (Industrial Fisheries) is reserved for physically challenged candidates.
Blind: Reservation for Blind candidates is applicable only for MA (Hindi) and LLM programmes.
Note: Candidates belonging to states other than Kerala are not eligible for communal reservation.
To register, the candidates must visit the official CUSAT website. Candidates applying for B Tech Lateral Entry cannot select their choices of Branch, Seat category, etc., during the time of online submission of application.
Selection Procedure 2024
For admission to B.Tech. Lateral Entry Course, the candidates must appear for the Lateral Entry Test.
Exam Pattern
There are 200 objective type questions designed to test the proficiency in the following fields-
- English (20 questions)
- Mathematics (50 questions)
- Engineering Mechanics (40 questions)
- Engineering Graphics (40 questions)
- General Engineering (50 questions)
Duration: 3 hours duration
Maximum Marks: 600
How to apply?
The online application submission is a two-stage process.
Stage 1:
- Fill in the basic personal details such as Name, DOB, email id, mobile number, etc.
- After submitting the details, the User Id and password will be sent via mail and SMS.
Stage 2:
- Login with the help of user id and password.
- Enter all the other details required in the online registration form.
- Upload your recent passport size color photograph and signature.
Required dimensions and size of photo & signature
For Photo: 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm with the file size between 4 KB and 100 KB
For Signature: 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm with a file size between 1 KB and 30 KB
