Tumkur University was established in 2004 and is situated in the state of Karnataka. It is a state University which is accredited by NAAC with 'B' Grade. Tumkur University offers a number of courses at the UG, PG and doctorate level. The University has 24 postgraduate departments, 19 undergraduate departments, 2 constituent colleges, and 94 Affiliated Colleges.
It established 29 research centres to promote advanced multidisciplinary research and academic collaborations. Applications are released during the month of May for UG and doctorate courses, and the month of July for PG courses. Students can submit their application within three weeks after the notification.
The selection for the UG courses will be done on the basis of academic merit. The admission to PG courses will be based on the counselling process. For MBA and MCA, the admission will be given directly through KEA, Bengaluru. For all the Ph.D. courses, the candidates have to appear for the entrance examination and personal interview.

Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates who have passed at 10+2 level with minimum 50% from any recognized board are considered eligible to get admission in BA, B.Sc., BFA, BSW, B.Com., B.Ed., B.P.Ed. Courses.
- Students who have passed at 10+2 with minimum 50% from the science stream with computer and mathematics as the main subjects from any recognized board are considered eligible for BCA course.

- The selection is done on the basis of merit list.
- Shortlisted candidates on the basis of their marks obtained in class 12 are considered for admission and called for the document verification process.

Selection Criteria
The selection will be done through Counselling based on merit, except for MA in Mass communication.. For admission to PG courses, candidates have to appear for a written test which is conducted by the university itself.
- Listed candidates on the basis of their marks in the entrance test are called for the personal interview round. Final selection is based on the overall performance of the candidate.
- As for MA in Mass Communication and Journalism, it will be based on the entrance test.
