However, as a student of ECE at NIT Surathkal, I am writing down a few points in defense of my degree- First of all, NIT Surathkal offers a much more complete and diversified engineering education. This is because you will get to interact with the students of various disciplines from around the institution. This will offer a good exposure in contrast to the IIITs which are entirely focused on CSE and ECE branches. ECE is the branch of the future. CSE is turning more and more into a commodity. This is due to the dilution of its educational standards, and the increasing volume of students in this branch. As an ECE student, you can always learn programming (it is in fact a part of the curriculum in a limited manner). However, it is much more difficult to learn the concepts of ECE as a CSE student. As an ECE student you can be placed in a software company, but as a CSE student you can’t work in the E&C field. Both the colleges are good, but NITK holds more prestige because it is much older. Its campus is very impressive as well. But even IIIT Bangalore CSE is a great option. Once you’ve made a decision, stop seeking others’ opinions. Instead, work on your skill enhancement. Considering the sheer lack of core jobs in the electronics sector in India and the huge placement opportunities in the IT sector, your choice is good from a placement point of view.

Which one should I prefer: IIIT Bangalore ECE, IIIT Lucknow CSAI or IIIT Gwalior CSE?

CS and EC are very different branches. You need to decide which branch interests you more. EC is about electronics and how the different electrical components communicate with one another. It involves a lot of Physics. It only involves a little programming. CS, on the other hand, is all about programming. It mainly uses logic and math. If you are interested in programming, CSAI from IIIT Lucknow is the better choice. AI/ML is in huge demand in the industry as most things will be automated in the future. Placements and coding culture are top-notch at all these colleges. Students from IIIT Lucknow and IIIT Bangalore perform well in competitions like ACM ICPC. All these colleges are good. You should make your choice based on your field of interest.

Which is better opt IIT Delhi maths and computing or CSE at NIT Warangal, NIT Surathkal or IIIT Bangalore CSE?

Without any second thoughts, IIT Delhi MnC is the best option among all the aforementioned colleges. It's one of the top 5 IIts and moreover, its MnC program is highly sought after by engineering aspirants. The preference order in your case should be IIT Delhi MnC NITK CSE NITW CSE IIIT B CSE It's safe to say that none of the above colleges can match the standard of IIT Delhi, which is in itself a brand. MnC is quite similar to CSE though a few core computer courses are not included. Also, this branch is handled by the Mathematics department and not the CSE department. However, if you are more inclined towards CSE than MnC, then the best options for you would be IITR or IITG CSE.

Which is better among IIIT Bangalore (IMTech) or PES University (B.Tech in CS) in terms of placements and quality of education?

Here is some information on this subject- PESU offers good placements for B.Tech CS. But because of a very large batch size, its average package comes down. The top 100 B.Tech CS students of PESU easily grab a package of 10 LPA+. But IIITB is a better choice. It offers better faculty, peer group, placements, etc. Though PESU has a large campus, a lot of it is under construction. I would recommend you choose iMtech at IIIT Bangalore, especially if you are not planning for a Masters’ abroad.
