Nirma University provides an undergraduate program in design stream, namely, B.Des in two specializations. The course is offered by the Department of Design with dynamic course curriculum and special lectures by Industrial Experts. The course aims to provide practical experience through various workshops. B.Des is offered for a minimum duration of 4 years. It is a credit based, full time regular course. Basic eligibility is 10+2 in relevant discipline. Admissions to the course are entrance based.

Nirma University B.Des Eligibility Criteria
Candidates interested in B.Des program of Nirma University must satisfy the below mentioned eligibility criteria:
- The basic eligibility is that the applicant should have completed 10+2 (HSC) from a recognized institution/ school with a minimum mark of 50% in aggregate.
- Applicants with 10+3 diploma courses or any equivalent examination recognized by Nirma University are also eligible to apply.
- Students appearing for their 12th final exam in the current year of exam from any discipline are also eligible for the admission exam. However, a minimum of 50% aggregate scores remains the eligibility.
Nirma University B.Des Admission Guidelines
Admissions to B.Des program of Nirma University are based on entrance scores followed by PI and admission test conducted by the university itself.
- Composite scores will be computed based on the following selection criteria:
- UCEED Score: 50%
- NU-DD Situation Test: 30%
- Personal Interview: 20%
- Selected applicants are to be judged on the basis of their general awareness, quality of responses to social and cultural issues, and to test their creative idea and thinking when given any situation. Students may show the portfolio of their previous works during the Interview.
- For candidates who have not qualified for UCEED, round 2 exams will be conducted. Selected candidates will have to appear for the online Design Entrance Test.
- Applicants having non-Indian passports (FN), OR foreign students having a non-Indian passport and also the OCI or PIO card (OCI/PIO) are eligible to apply under OCI/PIO/FN Supernumerary category (10% reservation)
- Applicants of the Gulf countries or South-east Asia can apply under the CIWGC-SEA Supernumerary category (5% reservation). The students must hold Indian passports, and should have passed qualifying exams either from India or outside of India.
- NRI students from outside India are exempted from appearing in the UCEED exam. Their admission will happen on the basis of their merit of any equivalent exam from their country of residence followed by a skype interview, two letters of recommendation from senior school teachers, and a portfolio of their previous works.
- A total of 80 seats are available for the B.Des program with 40 students each specializing.

Duration: B.Des programme begins with a common foundation year. There is an intense 15 weeks of learning in each of the 7 semesters in the studios, classrooms,
workshops and through field work. Apprenticeships and Internships during summer vacation period each year are conducted. The 8th semester is a 4 months major research project in the industry, on the basis of which the final degree is granted.
Examination System: For the successful completion of the course/ degree students have to complete all the following examinations:
- CE examination (IR & RPR registration): If a student fails in the CE examination, he/she will not be permitted to appear for the SEE exam of the course.
- Semester end examination (SEE) (IR & RPR)
- Supplementary examination (SPE) (RER registration, when the grade is IF in SEE)
- A student has to acquire a minimum of C+ grade in both CE & SEE for passing the exam.
