Ph.D (Political Science) (Part Time) From IGNOU, New Delhi

IGNOU PhD Political Science Admission 2023 for the January session will begin soon. The university will tentatively release the application form for admission in the month of December 2022. Aspiring candidates can apply online on the university’s official website - ignou.ac.in.

IGNOU offers a Ph.D. program in Political Science for a minimum duration of 3 years. Admission to the course is done on the basis of an entrance exam conducted by the varsity followed by an interview. IGNOU Ph.D. Political Science Eligibility Criteria

• The candidate should possess a Master’s Degree from a University recognized by UGC or any other qualification recognized as equivalent thereto in such fields of study
• The candidate should have scored at least 55% marks [50% marks in the case of SC, ST, OBC (Non-creamy Layer) and Differently-Abled and other categories of candidates].

IGNOU Ph.D. Political Science Selection Criteria

The selection is done on the basis of the written test followed by an interview. Applications found suitable for admission will be called for the entrance test. Shortlisted candidates on the basis of their performance in the written test will be called for the interview round. Offer letters for admission will be sent to the Selected Candidates only.

Note: Candidates holding M.Phil. Degree (along with course work and dissertation both) or those candidates who have cleared NET (conducted by UGC/ CSIR/ ICAR) or any other equivalent examination will be exempted from appearing in the Entrance Test.

IGNOU Ph.D. Political Science Assignments

Assignments constitute continuous evaluation. The marks that you secure in the assignments will be counted in your final result. As mentioned earlier, an assignment of a course carries 30% weightage. You are therefore advised to take your assignment seriously. 

Non Submission of Assignment

The TMA for each semester can be downloaded from the Student Zone of the University website. You have to complete the assignment within the due dates specified in the assignment booklet. You will not be allowed to appear for the term-end examination for any course if you do not submit the assignment in time for that course. If you appear in the term-end examination, without submitting the assignments, the result of the term-end examination is liable to be canceled.
