Assam Don Bosco University - [ADBU] Admissions

The university offers B. Tech in five specializations and lateral entry to B.Tech. The minimum eligibility for B. Tech is to be pass 10+2 examination with at least 45% aggregate marks and Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry as compulsory subjects. For B. Tech lateral entry, candidates have to be diploma or B.Sc. Degree holders in relevant field from an AICTE approved university.

The selection of candidates in first-year B.Tech is based on the merit in the qualifying examination and entrance test i.e. JEE Main/state entrance test/Don Bosco University Graduate Entrance Test. Admission to second-year B.Tech will be based on candidate’s performance in Don Bosco University Graduate Entrance Test (DBU-GET).

Key Points for B.Tech Admission:

• Passed in 10+2 with 45% aggregate marks and same aggregate percentage in physics, chemistry and mathematics is mandatory requirement to stand eligible for B. Tech admission.
• B. Tech Lateral Entry – candidates with 60% at 3-year diploma or 50% at B. Sc are eligible to apply
• Appearing in the entrance examination is a mandatory requirement for admission in both the courses.
• JEE Main is commenced in both online and offline mode while Assam CEE (state entrance test) is conducted in online mode. 

Don Bosco University offers BCA, Integrated BCA, BA and B. Com as undergraduate programs. BA is offered in 4 specializations namely Psychology, Mass Communication, English, and Education. The admission process is based on the first-cum-first-basis. The minimum education qualification required is pass in 10+2 with at least 50% aggregate marks for B. Com and 45% aggregate marks for BA and BCA. Candidates can apply for the above courses online via institute’s official website. The form can also be obtained offline and has to be sent to the institute’s registered office along with the important documents.

Key Points:

• Candidates interested in applying for BA in English and Mass Communication, need 50% aggregate marks in 10+2
• For B. Com, commerce stream in 10+2 is mandatory. 

General MBA and MBA in Human Resource, Finance, and Marketing is offered by the university for full-time to eligible candidates. Candidates seeking admission in any MBA specialization have to appear for CAT/GMAT/XAT/MAT/JMAT/CMAT/DBU-PGET. The minimum eligibility requirement for MBA is to be a graduate in any discipline with at least 50% aggregate marks. Final selection will be based on past academic records, entrance score, performance in group discussion and personal interview.

Key Points:

• Provisional admission is offered to candidates who have not yet obtained their bachelor’s degree however the admission will be confirmed provided they submit the evidence of fulfilling the eligibility requirements within 3 months of the commencement of the program.
• Work experience of one-year or more will be preferred.
• Candidates with valid CAT/MAT/CMAT/JMAT/XAT/GMAT score are exempted from the written test of the university.

M.Tech is offered in four specializations viz. Computer Science, Electronics, Civil, Electrical and Electronics. Each specialization has a total intake of 24 students. The basic eligibility is to be a Graduate in relevant stream of Engineering and Technology with 60% aggregate marks. Selection is based on the entrance test and personal interview conducted by the university.

Important Points:

• Candidates with CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale can also apply.
• The selection is based on the merit in the DBU-PGET (Don Bosco University – Post Graduation Entrance Test for M.Tech).

The other post graduate programs offered by the university are Master of Social Work, MA in three streams (Education, Mass Communication, Human Rights) and M.Sc in six streams. Candidates who have done graduation in concerned discipline while securing 50% aggregate marks are eligible to apply for the above courses.

Selection of eligible candidates is based on the merit in the qualifying examination and personal interview conducted by the university. For MSW, candidates have to appear for DBU-PGET conducted by Don Bosco University.

Key Points:

• For MSW, those who have experience in Social Work / Psychology / Education / Sociology / Home Science / Human Resource Management will be given preference.
• Applicants who have not yet obtained their Bachelor’s Degree also may apply for admission on provisional basis.
• For MA, candidates having experience in the field of specialization will have an advantage.

Assam Don Bosco University offers MCA to candidates who have done graduation in any discipline and secured 50% aggregate marks. Candidates should have Mathematics or equivalent subject at +2 or graduation level to be eligible. Selection to 60 available seats is based on the merit in the qualifying, DBU-PGET (Post Graduation Entrance Test) and personal interview conducted by the university.

Key Points for MCA Admission:

• Candidates must appear for an Entrance Test – Don Bosco University Post Graduate Entrance Test (DBUPGET) and a Personal Interview.
• Applicants who have not yet obtained their Bachelor’s degree also may apply for admission.
• Such candidates will be offered provisional admission until they furnish evidence of fulfilling the eligibility criteria within 3-month of the commencement of the program.

Ph.D Program in Assam Don Bosco University is offered in 18 areas of research. Candidates Master’s degree in relevant discipline with 55% aggregate marks or 6.0 CGPA on a 10-point scale are eligible to apply. Selection is based on the merit in the qualifying, Don Bosco University ‘Aptitude for Research’ Test (DBU-ART) and personal interview conducted by the Board of Research Studies of Assam Don Bosco University. 

Key Points for Ph.D. Admission:

• DBU-ART will test the aptitude of candidates in logical and analytical ability, English comprehension and awareness of research in the chosen area of study.
• Candidates who have fellowship based on UGC exam, completed at least one-year in research lab and who are teachers in the DBU are exempted from the written test.
• Shortlisted candidates have to present the research proposal at the time of interview.

The university offers the following courses through its online study mode in MBA in three specializations, MCA, Post graduate certificate and diploma course in communication for pastoral leadership. For MBA and MCA, candidates have to be graduates while there is no specific eligibility requirement for the certificate and diploma course.

Key Points:

• Candidates who have passed graduation and have at least 3-year of full time work experience in Managerial / Supervisory / Professional Role are also eligible to apply for MBA.
• Graduates with more than four-year of experience in IT industry are eligible for MCA.
