EFLU is an exclusive university for English. There are 29 departments, out of which 20 are in English. With so many micro-specialties, pursuing an MA in English from EFLU is a great option.

- Post-graduation applicants get a pool of subjects to choose from in their degree at EFLU.

English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, formerly known as Central Institute of English was established in 1958. The aim of EFLU was to impart quality training for teachers in English which further introduced additional foreign languages such as Arabic, French, German, Japanese, etc. and was hence renamed as Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIEFL) in 1972. The University offers a Scholarship to PG students who hold excellent academic records and are from a weak economic background. This scholarship is known as Indira Single Girl Child Scholarship for PG Students. Following are the details of the English and Foreign Language University Scholarship:
Indira Single Girl Child Scholarship
It is a UGC scholarship scheme initiated with the objective to empower the girls of our country through the means of education. The government introduced Indira Gandhi Single Girl Child Scholarship to compensate for the direct cost of girl education while pursuing higher education. This scholarship is for those girls who are the only child of their parents.
Scholarship Amount:
INR 36,200 per annum for a period of 2 years.
Eligibility:
- Girl Students must be pursuing a PG course from the University.
- She should be the only child of her parents.
- Candidates must not be more than 30 years of age at the time of admission into the PG program.
- Candidates admitted to the PG course through distance education mode are not eligible for this scholarship.
- Also, there are no income criteria for students to be eligible for this scholarship.
Documents Needed to Apply for Scholarship

- Applicant’s passport-size photograph
- Self-attested copy of previous academic mark sheets
- Fee receipt of the current course year.
How to Avail?
- Visit the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
- Register with NSP by providing all necessary details.
- A student application ID and password are generated on the registered mobile number.
- log in to NSP using the newly generated ID and password. An OTP is sent on the registered mobile number using which the candidates must change their password, which is a mandatory step.
- Once the password is changed, the candidates are directed to the Applicant’s Dashboard Page,
- Click on the ‘Application form’ to start the application process.
- Applicants need to provide all the necessary details such as registration details, academic details, basic details, contact details, and scheme details.
- All the required documents in support of identity and academic eligibility must be uploaded by the applicants.
- Now, the filled-in application form must be saved as a draft so that the applicant can check every detail once again to make sure they are correct.
- Finally, the candidate must click on the ‘Submit’ button to submit the completed scholarship application form.

UGC Junior Research Fellowships
For candidates who have qualified at the national level test conducted by the UGC. INR.16000/- per month and a contingency grant of INR 10,000/- per year. HRA as per University rules, if living outside the campus.
Senior Research Fellowships
