Bachelor of Arts [B.A] [Media Production] From Bournemouth University

Media Production is an industry-focused course with its core disciplines being film, audio production and digital media design, underpinned by scriptwriting. Students engage with each of these in their first year. The second year allows you to build on this as you learn to work across media forms and platforms in ways that reflect many of the changes that media industries are currently undergoing. By the third year you can specialise, and much of the focus is on your Graduate Production Project, a piece of work developed and made in whatever media form (or forms) you choose to work. This will give you a flavour of what it takes to succeed in this challenging but rewarding industry.

WhatÕs more, the course is designed in dialogue with industry partners and aims to equip future media workers who are:

• Able to tell stories and communicate effectively through multiple media, and combinations of media, in a range of virtual and physical spaces
• Professionally competent, particularly in the creative uses of digital film, audio, and networked media
• Flexible and versatile, and are able to respond to the challenges and opportunities of structural and regulatory changes, new technologies, new convergences, and the shifting demands of clients and audiences
• Confident in exercising their moral agency as informed, critical and reflective practitioners.

The entire degree is assessed by coursework and youÕll receive regular feedback on your work to ensure youÕre progressing appropriately. By the time you finish the course youÕll have the tools to position yourself as a rounded graduate on a career pathway of your choosing. To aid this journey youÕll develop a critical understanding of moving image production and digital media development, as well as audio and radio production.
