Bournemouth University English Language Requirements
Non-native English speaking international students are required to submit proof that they have been evaluated in each of the four parts of English (reading, writing, speaking and listening) to the necessary standard for your degree course.
- For UG and PG programs: 6.0 Overall with a minimum of 5.5 in every component
- For Research Degree Programs: 6.5 with at least 5.5 in each component or equivalent
Note: Successful completion of pre-sessional English for university study programmes will also allow you to apply for a Bachelor's or Master’s degree.
UK Visa for International Students
International students are required to apply for a student visa for the UK at the earliest on successful acceptance to Bournemouth University.
Visa Processing steps:
- Attend a T4G visa presentation to be able to request a new CAS for a new visa application.
- You will receive a CAS request form: complete and return to the Immigration Compliance and Advice Team at AskBU and mail them the scanned or digital photos of all your visa supporting documents. These will be uploaded to the UK Visas and Citizenship Application Service (UKVCAS) while applying online for a visa.
- After receiving the CAS contact AskBU again to book for a personal appointment.
- Bring the originals of your supporting documents to the appointment and fill in your visa application online.
- Update all your contact details: email address and personal contact number. Information regarding your visa will be via your BU student email address, your registered email address and contact number.
- After submitting and paying for your visa application online, book and attend an appointment at a UKVCAS (in the UK) or at a VAC (overseas). your supporting documents will be verified and your biometric details will be registered during this appointment and you will have a short video interview overseas.
- If your visa is granted, your new T4G visa will be issued in the form of a plastic card called a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP).
