Field of Study:
£16,500/Yr
Your studies are enhanced in a variety of ways. You will have access to Northumbria and Live TheatreÕs Writer in Residence scheme as well as many other visiting experts. The Northumbria/Alphabetti Theatre script competition allows the winner to see their short script produced and the final year on the course sees all students given an opportunity to have their work read in a professional showcase event.
In addition to your study, students on the Scriptwriting pathway meet every week to share their work-in-development in a regular, informal workshop programme. The students have a thriving Scriptwriting Society and Drama Society, both of which have produced a number of student plays, radio broadcasts and webcasts and many students have written and produced plays and films both within and outside the formal programme.
Recent students have achieved notable successes including commissions at Live Theatre, Northumberland Theatre Company, Theatre of Comedy and The Maltings Theatre.
Students have gone on to work as professional writers, producers, script editors as well as using their excellent communication skills for a variety of quite different careers, in teaching, PR, marketing and human resources.
By the end of this course, you will feel secure in the knowledge, skills and competences you have developed, enabling you to approach the world of employment with self-assurance, confidence and a realistic sense of your own level of achievement.
Many students have gone to a variety of further study opportunities including NorthumbriaÕs own MA Theatre and Performance, as well as at RADA, the Royal Court Theatre and a variety of other MA programmes.
