Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university to get admission to this program.
- Students require a minimum GPA of 3 on a 4.0 scale for the program.
- Course is designed for graduates who are new to mass and comunication, so the main requirement is at least a second-class honours degree (2:2) or equivalent.
- Students are required to complete a 700-1000-word written exercise by choosing a film or television programme which students have recently seen and explaining why you found it innovative.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Students must complete a 4-year undergraduate degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
- Students need to submit minimum GRE exam scores for a better chance of admission.
- Students with less than the required level of academic qualification may be considered if they have significant experience in the mass and communication.
- Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.

If students are not from the UK and they do not already have residency here, students may need to apply for a visa.
The visa students apply for varies according to the length of students course:
- Courses of more than six months' duration: Student visa
- Courses of less than six months' duration: Standard Visitor visa
International students who require a Student visa should apply for their full-time courses as these qualify for Student visa sponsorship. If students are living in the UK on a Student visa, they will not be eligible to enrol as a student on Birkbeck's part-time courses (with the exception of some modules).
