All the courses are highly updated. Professors have the flexibility to update the course at any moment.
30000 SGD is the program fee.
Course curriculum is updated every semester by professors. We also had guest professors from MIT. Profs are very experienced and good at teaching. Will be getting industrial exposure / research experience in the coming years.
Good academic reputation, affordable, safe and developed city
I've only finished my first semester here, so my firsthand experience with the overall course curriculum would be limited. However, from what I've studied so far, I can confidently say that the course syllabus is updated, relevant and really challenges students. The initial parts are adapted from the MIT curriculum and aims to build a very strong foundation. The way the syllabus is taught made me really appreciate the subject on another level (although the first semester was a huge jump from high school and is pretty challenging in my opinion). I haven't had industrial exposure/research experience yet (as I just finished my first semester), but NUS has great research opportunities and industrial exposure(internships are compulsory and you can choose from extra opportunities that the university notifies you with).
There were a few reasons I aspired to study at NUS. First, I wanted to pursue Computer Science, so I considered factors like programme quality, university rankings and expert opinion. Second, for my undergraduate studies, I preferred not too move too far away from Singapore. So, NUS was my #1 choice. Honestly, NUS is a very prestigious institution and the fact that CS is a competitive major there motivated me to take on the challenge. I felt that graduating from here would make me well-moulded to take on real-world challenges.
At NUS we are allocated one semester of internship (6 months) during Year 3. The courses are somewhat relevant as some basic teachings are definetly useful. However, since different internship requires different specific knowledge it is hard for universities to dive into depth concepts. NUS attempts to fill this void by giving us various options to pick from under technical electives which consists of depth and breadth modules.
National University of Singapore (NUS) is one of the top universities in the entire world. The feel of being in the best of the best gives me confidence and motivation. Moreover, I wanted to settle in Singapore thus NUS was the right answer. The University has amazing facilities with amazing professors with extremely smart individuals. I wanted to learn the different perspectives students of other races had.
