THE NIT C WAY

Remarks :

It all starts with class 12 In some state boards like Andhra pradesh and Telangana, it is called Intermediate education. After class 12 there will be an entrance exam called JEE. To attempt JEE one needs to have 75% weightage in the 12th board (65% for SC, ST). Then after taking JEE mains, you can go into NIT (National Institute of Technology), almost 10-12 lakh people will be attempting the test . Another exam is called JEE advanced for which the candidates have to be top in their respective category, almost 2.5 lakh people will be attempting the test. After Jee advanced if you secure a good rank like (1-1000) the student will be going to IIT ( Indian Institute of Technology). Admission process: After The examination there Autonomous body called JOSSA will handle all the admission procedures. In JOSSA there will be 6 rounds, and then that student will get the deserved seat in that deserved branch(course ).

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose chemical engineering because, to my knowledge, Chemical engineering is a vast Department where the application lies in every field of work. And one more added benefit for choosing chemical engineering as my course is I will find much time in investing my intrest in other new things to learn. Talking about the faculty at my college (NIT Calicut ), Almost all the faculty are the PhD holders and all are having their specialisation in their respective fields. Talking about their experience , they have been excellent in innovation of their own and Extremely brilliant in guiding their students to implement their ideas. The ratio of faculy and students is 1:49. The exams were planned as One mid semester and one end semester for a particular semester. Papers were set based on all the students of the college, I can say briefly that Papers were set moderate to tough . Speaking about the pass situation, it is relative Grading .So it ise easy to pass but not getting Good grade

Internships Opportunities :

As I was in my second year of Graduation, I personally don't have any internship experience. But I can you provide you with some information which I got from my seniors .In the beginning of 3 rd year of graduation, they will be having multiple internship drive test followed by an interview to shortlisted candidates to which they apply for the specified company. Most people will be getting a stipend of 20-30k per month for core branch students like mechanical, civil and chemical .Cse people will be getting 50-60 k per month

Placement Experience :

Our NIT Calicut follows strict rules in terms of placements. They completely abide by the rules to attract many companies to the campus. The students are supposed to sit for the placements in their 7th semester. Before they calculate the GPA of all six semesters they take as the basis for considering it as eligibility. Students with a GPA of 7+ will be eligible to apply for almost all the companies. Below that won't be able to apply for some of the companies. Last year the count of companies was 192 and the offers were made about 1300+. The highest package was 67 lpa from the department of CSE. The overall average package was 12 lpa. The overall percentage of students placed was 90%. My plan was after getting my degree, I was thinking of doing an MBA in good IIM after having sufficient work experience.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

When a fresher joins the college into B.E/B.tech the fees are as follows : At the time of admission Rs.47000 - extra charges (for the whole course) Rs.62500 - semester charges - For General fee waivers will applied on the produced income certificate issued by the respective State government. For all sc, St students it will be a waiver, however. For SC, St category students NSP scholarship will be provided in amounts ranging from 40000-130000 based on the college. For others, private merit scholarships can be availed.

Campus Life :

Our college conducts two fests annually, namely RAGAM which was our college cultural fest conducted in March, and the other one was TATHVA which was our technical fest conducted in October. All these fests were conducted by the students themselves. I was also the Junior Executive of This year's technical fest Tathva. Our college plays a vital role in providing a better place to learn and let learn, apart from other colleges our college follows no time for all the undergraduates and postgraduates.

Hostel Facilities :

Nit Calicut has a total of 13 hostels namely A Hostel (for first-year boys )-4 sharing room B Hostel (for first-year boys )-4 sharing room C Hostel D Hostel The quality of the food depends on the mess contractor. Most of the messes serve Good food, but at times it is not as good. The price for the food previously it is Rs.120 per day but now it is Rs.138 per day.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is fine. It's good and can manage both academics and sports. Faculty members are so kind and good. As I said in my preference order I gave CSE as my choice but I got only ECE anyway I like electronics. Faculties here have doctorate degree along with some specialization. Exams. There are 2 mid-semester exams each for 50 marks and 1 End semester exam for 100 marks along with some courses have lab.
