Life at IITH

Remarks :

To get admission in the BTECH course of IITH. We first have to qualify Jee mains with the respective cut-off percentile and you have to crack a tougher exam called Jee Adv to get admission in IITH. you can find the application form, application fees, and application dates on the official NTA website. I have no reservation benefit.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I have interest in chemical engineering since childhood. The faculty-student ratio is quite good in IITH. The faculty here are top notch and most of the faculty are listed as top 2% researchers by Stanford University. Most of the faculty here are highly qualified and their teaching does take some time to understand. The toughness of the exams is average compared to JEE ADVANCED and we can easily pass the exam if we study before 2 weeks of exams.

Internships Opportunities :

I know a 3rd-year senior who got an internship with a stipend of 1.25 lakhs in the Microsoft company. Many people here are also interested in GSOC. The internships here are very good and everyone is happy with their placements.

Placement Experience :

From 5th semester students are available for campus placement. We have top notch companies like GOOGLE AMAZON MICROSOFT and so on. The highest package is 65 lakhs and the average package is 20 lakhs. Almost 80% of students get placed here and I am taking a job after the degree.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees here are pretty constant throughout the 4 years of my course and the cost of study is pretty average. I am getting a fee reimbursement of 2/3rd due to my parent's annual income and I think it's a great thing from IITH.

Campus Life :

The annual Cultural and tech fest of IITH is ELAN AND NVISION which happens in the month of February. The books in the library are great and the classrooms are quite good. IITH is currently constructing a sports complex for sports and it's awesome. All the clubs in IITH are run by students like E CELL, TEDX, and so on.

Hostel Facilities :

I got a bed, table and a chair in my room and the mess food contains a variety of items which change every day. The hostel rate can feel a bit overpriced and it's compulsory for every student to be in the Hostel in IITH.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this to get a degree in computer science which I thought would be better for me. The course curriculum is good as of now. The faculty-and-student ratio is okay too. But all of the faculty here are contract-based I suppose but are of good knowledge. The faculty inspires students to gain knowledge and motivates them to be independent as much as possible. They train students to be disciplined and are strict in that term. The teachers are also well qualified and of a good experience. The term exams got postponed due to the weather conditions and state holidays but apart from that, every other exam is conducted timely. But I would blame the correction for the pass percentage of the students from the university, though you would find the paper to score well.

Great placement was there, but the packages were a bit less due to the recession. placement percent is around 98-99%. Many students go for higher studies, I am also thinking of doing MBA or preparing for UPSC. The highest packege this year was around 70-72 lpa.
