Remarks :
The admission process for my course, Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), involved appearing for the JEE Main entrance exam. The eligibility criteria included passing the 10+2 examination with the necessary subjects and securing a valid JEE Main score. To apply, I had to fill out the application form online, which was available on the official JEE website. There was an application fee associated with the form submission. The cutoff for CSE was in the range of 50,000 to 55,000 rank in the Common Rank List (CRL) for candidates from my home state. However, there were variations in the cutoff for different categories and home state quota candidates. During the counseling process conducted AKTU, home state candidates, and other reserved categories received certain benefits, like relaxed cutoffs or additional seats. One improvement I would suggest for the admission process is expediting the counseling process to reduce waiting times and streamline seat allotment.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum for Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) has been highly satisfying. I chose this course because CSE is a promising field for the future with numerous career opportunities. The faculty-to-student ratio is commendable, allowing for personalized attention. The faculty members are exceptionally qualified, with many holding PhDs and possessing extensive knowledge in their respective fields. Their teaching methods are excellent, making complex concepts easily understandable. Term exams were conducted in a timely manner, typically every 5-6 months, and while they were moderately challenging, with dedication and consistent effort, passing them was achievable. Overall, the course and the faculty have been supportive and enriching, preparing students for a successful future in the field of computer science.
Placement Experience :
Students at my college became eligible for campus placements from the end of the third year, with opportunities for internships available from any semester. Several renowned companies visited our campus, offering a wide range of job profiles. The number of offers made varied from year to year. The highest package offered was 77 lakhs, while the average package ranged from 6 to 7 lakhs, depending on the company and the role. The percentage of students getting placed was relatively high, with a significant portion of the graduating class securing job offers before completing their degrees. As for my plans after completing the degree, I intend to explore job opportunities in my field of study and possibly pursue higher education or research to further enhance my knowledge and career prospects.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fee structure for my course was on the higher side, but the college offered a helpful solution by providing the option of an EMI plan to ease the financial burden. Regarding scholarships and financial assistance, there was the "UP Scholarship" available, which was a government initiative to support students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. In terms of campus jobs, there were opportunities for various positions, including teaching assistants, research assistants, and administrative roles, which often came with stipends. Personally, I secured a teaching assistant position that not only contributed to my finances but also enriched my learning experience. In summary, while the fee structure was relatively high, the college offered EMI options, and the UP Scholarship, along with on-campus job opportunities, played a crucial role in making higher education more affordable and accessible.
Campus Life :
Life on campus is vibrant and engaging, with various aspects contributing to the overall experience. The annual fest, "Zealicon," and the Tech Fest provides exciting opportunities for students to showcase their talents and knowledge, typically held in the month of February. The library is well-equipped, offering a vast collection of books and journals, to support students' academic pursuits. The classrooms are modern and well-maintained, providing a conducive environment for learning. The campus also places a strong emphasis on sports and extracurricular activities, with ample facilities and opportunities for students to participate and excel in various sports and creative pursuits. Furthermore, there are numerous social groups, clubs, and websites run by students, offering platforms for like-minded individuals to connect, collaborate, and pursue shared interests. With 22 societies catering to different purposes, students have a wide array of options to engage in activities.
