An honest review from a frustrated College student

Remarks :

Eligibility for the course is minimal you have to score 80% in your 12th examination for B.Sc. Physics Honours. The application process happens online. So the application process is really easy and they just need some basic information about applicants. As it is not an autonomous college the application time depends on Calcutta University and West Bengal Board. The application was free of cost until last year. But from this year you have to pay to apply to this college.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I choose this course cause I love Physics and I want to know more and do research on physics. The faculty is good. Enough educated teachers, most of them are Ph.D. holders not only from bum Indt but also from Germany, the USA, etc. The student ratio of male: to female is 4:1. Qualifications are passed the university exam with more than 30% number in exam. The teaching method is well enough but they don't have enough time to complete the syllabus. I would consider it a problem of the College and University timetable.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees are a little higher than the quality of education this college has given us. And every semester the fees are increasing but the education quality doesn't improve. I got a scholarship named SVMCM. As a general student I don't get any financial help from this college and our college doesn't have any stipend system.

Campus Life :

Even after completing 2 years in this college, I didn't get any college fest except our freshers party. Books are widely available in our college. No one needs to buy books from outside of the college. ey can get books from the library easily. There are not that many amenities in our classroom but we have an air conditioning system in our classrooms. Sports and extracurricular activities are rare for our college. They just organize a cricket, football, and badminton league in mid-summer which is the worst time for play.

Placement Experience:

Students get placement offers in the first year of M.Stat. In general, however, most students prefer to go abroad for higher studies. Students who sit for placements mostly get placed in Finance and Analytics companies, typically in Business Analyst, Risk Analyst and other roles. ISI has a 100% placement record for B.Stat- M.Stat students. Companies like Goldman Sachs, McKinsey & Co., JP Morgan & Chase, Amazon, etc. come for placements. Last year, the highest package offered was 56 lpa with the package being 28 lpa. M.Tech CS had the highest overall package at 89 lpa.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I want to explore the world that's why I chose this course. The student ratio is not accurate but approximately it would be approximately 36:17. The only qualification benchmark is your marks and the teaching process is very efficient. The difficulty of the exam depends on the student.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Geography has always been my favorite subject since class 6. So I had my dream to pursue geography Hons and to study this subject. Faculty-student ratio- 5:30. We have great professionals, whose ranks are, MSC, Ph.D., and Dr too. Term exams are held and the papers are much easier.

From the fifth to sixth semester students are eligible to do internships and get placements. For sixth-semester students, it is compulsory to take an intership as it is part of the assignment and we get marks for it. Almost 70-80 percent of students get their placement from college.

Placement Experience:

The course in which I was enrolled had no placement options after Bachelors. So, after completing this Bachelor's course most of us enrolled in a Master's course while some went to pursue an MBA. However, there is a placement cell in our college. Students from various departments who are interested in getting jobs after completion of their degree can register there and explore the options available.
