Remarks :
For being eligible for BIT Mesra one needs to give JEE Mains and participate in JoSAA and CSAB counselling. Our institute also conducts its own institute round of counselling. The admission process was nearly smooth, but the hostel allotment system had many snags and it could get better
Course Curriculum Overview :
Faculty members here are highly qualified most of them have done their Phd from IITs. Some of them are still doing research on active projects here in the institute. Academics here are very tough you need to study regularly for getting a decent cgpa, studying one night before mid sems or end sems won't work! Our semester was compressed in a very bad way a 6-month course is being taught in 3 months and the level of difficulty remains the same. Of course, we have a 75% attendance criteria.
Internships Opportunities :
Students are eligible for internships from 3rd year some even manage to get a PPO. Many circuital branch Students crack good internships with a nice stipend, few core companies also offer internships like TATA steel, JUSCO etc
Placement Experience :
Students are eligible for placements from the 7th semester onwards 6th sem onwards for internships. Placement for circuital branches here is comparable to the top 5 NITs with CSE average package being 22 LPA and the highest being 58 LPA overall average package was 13.5 LPA. Core companies also visit our campus and offer jobs to core branch students like mechanical, chemical, civil etc. but they are fewer in number. Top recruiters are Atlassian, Microsoft, Tata steel, Hero motor corp, Hyundai, Genpact etc
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Being a GFTI (technically a central government college) its fees is very high around 17 lakhs for BTech courses it's way cheaper for IMSc courses. Our institute also offers scholarships to meritorious and financially weak students called the GP Birla scholarship
Campus Life :
The campus of BIT Mesra is one of the best campuses in India. It's spread over 780+ acres with forest cover all around it. It's really a treat to walk around the campus on holidays. Having a cycle is a must in our college because of the distance between hostels and main buildings and food joints (ofc girls hostel too. Our annual cultural fest is BITOTSAV held in February this time BITOTSAV 23 was held after 3 years and it was worth the hype with Papon's performance in Pro night. The annual tech fest is known as Pantheon, it has a huge scope impact me. We have a big library with almost all kinds of academic books available. The classrooms are all air-conditioned. The sports culture is pretty average. The sports complex is big and also with a gym. There are many cultural and tech clubs all organizing some events throughout the year. But our administration is very student unfriendly and struct that's a big con!
Hostel Facilities :
Boys Hostel allotment is poor here with 2 students accommodated in a room meant for one student. It's a big struggle to stay in these hostels in the first year, 2nd year onwards boys are given single accommodation, and girls live in double sharing throughout 4 years. Mess food is just eatable
