I have a friend who did his master’s from JNU and he was able to give some insight regarding the entrance test for MA Sociology.

How can I get into Delhi School of Economics for an M.A. in sociology?
Admission to MA in Sociology at Delhi School of Economics is based on merit or entrance examination scores. Only those who have completed BA (Hons) in Sociology from Delhi University with an aggregate of around 55%, can apply for merit-based admission.
Others, including students from DU, need to apply under ‘entrance’ if they satisfy the eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria is at least 50% marks in graduation.
How can I get admission into IGNOU for an M.A. In Sociology?
M.A. Sociology at IGNOU is a 2 year program. For admission, candidates need to visit the official portal of IGNOU @ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. The application form for MA Sociology at IGNOU is issued twice a year in January & July. Graduation with a minimum of 45% marks from a recognized university is the minimum eligibility criteria for admission into this course. There is no age bar for this course.
