The points below provide a bigger picture of the chances of students having a degree from Amity University to get a seat in Oxford or Cambridge.

  • Due to a huge number of applications from universities and colleges around the world, institutes like Oxford and Cambridge make a pre-selection of candidates based on their previous profiles. In this process, they make sure that students mostly from reputed institutes like IITs, IISc, St. Xavier’s, St. Stephen’s, etc get the best preference in selection.
  • The reason behind such pre-selection is that such elite institutes want the best students who are already trained from a reputed institute, thus reducing the work for evaluation.
  • Amity University, Mumbai doesn’t come in such category of reputed institutes in the list of institutes preferred by Oxford and Cambridge. Therefore, there is very little chance for students from Amity University to get a seat in Oxbridge.
  • 90% of Indian students in Oxford and Cambridge belong to the four above-mentioned reputed institutes. So, only 10% of students are from other institutes, which makes it a very difficult task to convince the admission committee that the candidate is a deserving one.
  • There are several other excellent universities around the world which provides excellent degrees in several fields. Some of these universities don’t give so much pressure in selecting candidates from reputed institutes only.

Being said that, you can still try for Oxbridge, keeping the requirement in mind. Cambridge states its primary academic requirement as one of the following:

  1. 75% in Bachelor degree (4 years) from a top institute in B.E., B.Tech, or MBBS
  2. 75% in Bachelor of Law (3 years)
  3. 75% in Bachelor of Arts (3 years) from University of Mumbai or Delhi.

Therefore, it is clear that the chances of a student from Amity University in Oxbridge are very low. However, if you have a decent academic background, you can give it a try.
