How can I apply for an internship at IIT Bombay?

While technical aspects are necessary for applying for an internship, a more psychological approach towards such interactions is also required. Students generally have to appear for an online aptitude and technical test, clearing this you will receive an internship offer. Also, you can mail the respective professors to receive internships in a particular field. 

The internship program at IIT Bombay is known as Ekalavya Internship Program and to apply for it there are basically two steps -

• To get an internship from a professor
  • The first step here is to go through the faculty of IIT Bombay and choose a professor according to our choice of interests. 
  • After that, you should go through all the research papers, projects made by this professor. Read and understand them carefully to get an idea of his knowledge and experience too.
  • After reading all the papers, you should write an email expressing your thoughts about the research and also ask a few questions about it. This method would start a conversation with the professor and don't talk directly about any internship.

This method can be a time consuming one and needs a lot of effort but it will be a surely effective one.

• Registration on their website for an internship

You can apply for an internship by registering on their website. The registration process begins in January/February and the college accepts applications of students from 3rd year onwards. There are two steps for registration - 

• By uploading your CV and providing details if you have completed any other projects.
• By appearing the online test which includes an aptitude test and a technical test.

After completing the test successfully, you will receive a letter for internship. Thus, you will have received an internship opportunity.
