Which of the following would be a better choice, and electrical at IIT Mandi, Jodhpur, Ropar, or a CSE at IIT Dharwad, Bhilai, Goa (specific interests computer science)?

All these colleges are premier institutes of the country, and are considered to be the best to pursue engineering. At the present, CSE is the most sought-after branch as it attracts lucrative offers and quite a lot of opportunities in the market.

NIRF Ranking:

• IIT Mandi has been ranked 67 among top engineering colleges in India.
• IITJodhpur bagged 53 position among top IITs in India.
• IIT Ropar, on the other hand, was ranked 39 among top engineering colleges in India.

IIT Dharwad, IIT Bhilai, IIT Goa are newly established institutes, thus haven’t been ranked by NIRF yet.

IIT Mandi

• The average placement percentage has been around 75%.
• Highest Package offered to the students was 40 LPA whereas the average salary was 13 LPA
• Top recruiters are Cognizant, Wipro, Sonata, HSBC Bank, L&T amongst 100 others.

IIT Jodhpur

• The institute recorded an average placement rate of 60%
• Highest Package offered was 26 LPA while the average package was 3.25 LPA.
• Top recruiters have been Amazon, Flipkart, ISRO, Oracle, etc. among many others.

IIT Ropar

• The average placement rate has been over 65%
• The highest package offered to the students was 17.45 LPA whereas the average salary was 9 LPA
• Some of the prominent recruiters are Amazon, Qualcomm, Larsen and Turbo, Microsoft, etc.

IIT Dharwad

• The average stipend for IIT Dharwad is 30,000-60,000 per month as it has seen its first placement in 2020.
• Major recruiting companies are Cognizant, Microsoft, L&T Infotech, Wipro, Sonata, HSBC Bank, etc.

IIT Bhilai

• The average placement rate has been over 80%
• Students were offered the highest package of 31.3 LPA while the average salary was 7.5 LPA

IIT Goa

• Average placement percentage has been around 70%
• Top recruiters have been Adobe, Amazon, Microsoft, Airtel, DRDO etc.
• Highest CTC offered was 20 LPA while average was in the range 8-10 LPA.

Many governments funded and internationally collaborative research projects are being carried out by the highly qualified faculty in the relatively older IITs like Mandi, Ropar and the students here get an opportunity to curate and shape innovative ideas under them. Infrastructurally they are almost at par with all facilities available, but the newer IITs like Dharwad are currently functional in transit campus so all facilities cannot be availed as of now. Hence, it is up to the student to choose a given course in a particular college.
