Which one is better, PEC or UIET Chandigarh?

PEC is one of the pioneer engineering colleges in Punjab and ranks 68 among the top engineering colleges as per NIRF ranking 2020. It maintains a decent placement record of 80% by providing jobs in top quality MNCs. 

UIET Chandigarh, on the other hand, is affiliated to Punjab University and ranks 54 among the private engineering colleges as per NIRF ranking. The placement record is 80%, where the students get lucrative packages in some of the top MNCs.

Admission Process 

PEC

• The minimum marks required for BTech is 75% marks in 10+2.
• The students applying for UG and PG programs must submit JEE Main and GATE exam scores, respectively. 

UIET

• The BTech admission is based on the valid score of 75% marks in 10+2 with JEE Main. 
• GATE is the criteria for securing admission in an MTech course along with a bachelor’s degree.

Placements

PEC

• It maintains a healthy placement and many reputed companies like Microsoft, Google visit every year. 
• The placements are better than other NITs and the faculties regularly help the students for getting their jobs. 
• A total of 85 companies visited the campus and recruited more than 300 students.
• The highest package received by the students was 49 LPA while the average salary was 9 LPA.

UIET

• A total of 309 students were placed with top companies.
• 56 companies visited the campus for a recruitment drive.
• The highest package offered to the students was 30 LPA while the average package was 7 LPA.
• The number of job offers increased to 205 and there was an increase of 5% in the average package in 2019. 

The top companies are Directi, Accenture, ZS Associates, Google, Deloitte, Microsoft, Philips, etc.

Compared to these two, PEC is much better than UIET. PEC has one of the top engineering campuses in India with a better placement record. UIET is also a right college for taking admission, but it is advisable to prefer PEC first.
