Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi is located in Uttar Pradesh, and it was established in 1919. It got the IIT tag as an Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, in 1968. This is the largest and oldest university in India, with a fabulous campus and infrastructure. IIT BHU has 14 departments and three interdisciplinary schools. Councils and Clubs – IIT BHU gives incredible support to the students for extracurricular activities. There are 24 club functions within the campus, which are under five councils, namely the Cultural Council, Science and Technology Council, Film and Media Council, Sports Council, and Social Service Council, that offer students many opportunities to excel in any field. The campus also has a student council, which acts as the representative body of the students.
Sports Facilities – Major sports like tennis, badminton, chess, cricket, and football are available at IIT BHU for students who want to excel in their passion. Many activities and competitions are conducted every year.
College Fests and Events – This is one of the main attractions of the campus. They usually conduct four fests every year, including sports, cultural, and techno-management namely KASHIYATRA, SPARDHA, TECHNEX, and FMC Weekend, under the respective councils. The events are organized in state-level and most of them receive large recognition in the country
Hostel and Library Facilities – The hostels are fully furnished, and students are given a resourceful atmosphere. They have playgrounds to spend their leisure time productively. IIT BHU has the best library, with a rich collection of books mainly on engineering, science, and the humanities. This library is also notable for its collection of periodicals, standards, and codes. Along with this, they have more than 1,000 e-journals and e-books.
