I don’t think it’s wrong to recommend colleges to someone solely based on affiliation. It’s better to evaluate colleges based on performance and placements. Colleges with JNTU affiliation like KMIT offered packages around INR 30 LPA and performed better than most of other colleges.

Deccan is affiliated with OU but it’s wrong to suggest students choose Deccan over KMIT only because it’s affiliated with OU. Consider criteria like placements, faculty, facilities, etc., and make a sound decision after taking advice from your seniors.

Overall, it’s better to prioritize autonomous colleges, over colleges like OU and e.

It depends on the course. For technical and engineering courses, JNTUH is the better option. Osmania University is better for non-technical courses. It also has a good placement record. During the 2021 placement drive, three students from CSE, received placement offers from Microsoft with a placement package of around INR 41 LPA.

Both JNTUH and OU are well reputed and have their own advantages. Here is a brief comparison of them.

  1. Recognition: JNTUH has been accredited by NAAC with an A+ grade and OU has been awarded a five-star rating by NAAC. More than 200 colleges come under JNTUH whereas only 7 colleges are under Osmania University.
  2. Syllabus: The syllabus in JNTUH keeps on updating according to the latest pattern after every two years. In OU the syllabus hardly changes one in ten years.
  3. Examination Pattern: There are 4 different sets of question papers that are designed in JNTUH, so you can give exams in your respective college and the question is usually tough. In OU, there is only one set of question papers through which everyone is examined, therefore the students are provided with various exam centers where they can give their tests.

These are a few pros and cons for JNTUH and OU. Go through these factors and choose according to your convenience.
