Studying B.Com from Zakir Hussain College, Delhi University (2019).

If you look at FORE’s prior placement statistics, you'll notice that even before they started this new PGDM in Financial Management, they were a good pick for the financial sector, finance businesses, and overall BFSI.

  • Until a few years ago, LBSIM was an excellent venue for PGDM Finance. However, some of the best faculty members have left LBSIM.
  • When compared to other institutes in its category, LBSIM offers cutting-edge infrastructure and possibly the best finance faculty.
  • It offers a tough curriculum, and recruiters come in with core finance profiles; on top of that, LBSIM has a higher return on investment.
  • FORE is a good school as well, but why pay more for similar opportunities.

Studied at Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, New Delhi

The choice here ultimately comes down to your interest. First, decide whether you are interested in pursuing specialized MBA courses like MBA in finance or are you more inclined towards MBA general where you can opt for a specialization in your second year.

I have some friends at LBSIM Delhi. So, can give you some insight into the institute.

Specializations: You will be having a variety of specializations to choose from if you go for LIBSIM. You will get an enormous amount of exposure in terms of corporate, guest lecturers, meet-ups with major industrialists if you opt for this B-School.

Location: When it comes to location, there is an advantage too, located in Delhi which is India's capital and surrounded by two major industrial hubs, Gurgaon and Noida.

Alumni Base: Alumni base of LIBSIM is strong and the institute has maintained an amazing placement record as well.

One of my friends studied in LBSIM. According to him, when it comes to the courses in LBSIM, it comprises 2 courses, namely, PGDM General and PGDM Finance.

  • Considering PGDM General, the dual specialization subjects include Operations, Finance, HR, Systems and Marketing which could be selected after 1 year.

  • This depicts that the Institute offers a lot of subjects to choose from for the specialization.
  • The Institute is quite good in terms of alumni and placements also.

MBA Finance, Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, New Delhi (2018)

One of my friends applied for PGDM Finance at LBSIM last year and was shortlisted for the interview round. Here are the questions that he had to answer during his interview.

There was a year gap after his graduation, so they asked what he did in that time period. He explained that he was self-employed. After the brief introduction, the following questions were asked.

  • How will you explain balance sheet to students?
  • Tell us something about Gearing ratio.
  • Share your views about direct and indirect expenses.
  • Tell us about Lawrence Curve.
  • Tell us about Debt equity ratio.

To his surprise, he wasn’t asked the general questions like Why MBA? Strength and weakness, etc. Overall his experience was good and he was able to convert the call.

How is the scenario of internships in FORE and LBSIM?

RP

PGDM Marketing & Information Technology, FORE School of Management (2017)

Having friends in both FORE and LBSIM, I can say that they are the top MBA institutes in Delhi that have big-brand value.

FORE School of Management

  • There are a variety of internship roles that get offered to the students. It includes Consulting, Market Research, Sales, Business Development, Pre-Sales, and others.
  • The big corporations that visit the campus for SIP (summer internship project) are E&Y, Deloitte, United Biscuits, United Breweries, Maruti Suzuki, Genpact, Expedia, IDBI, and more. These companies pay a lucrative stipend to the students.
  • FORE provides a bunch of opportunities to the students sitting for SIP.

Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management

  • The SIPs are in BFSI, Research & Consultancy, Engineering & Durables, E-Commerce, FMCG, IT/ITES, and Others. Out of these, Research & Consultancy placed the maximum students (29% of the batch).
  • The average stipend offered is 19,500/month while the highest is 96,000/month.
  • There are over 150 companies that come for SIP placements. The new recruiters were Mahindra Finance, L&T Finance, Bajaj Capital, ONGC, Google, HPCL, ABC Consultants, Chegg, Mazars, and others.

In both institutes, the SIP Placement scenario is similar. For selecting the students, companies follow the steps: Resume-Shortlisting, Group Discussion, and Personal Interview.

Apart from the above, a few companies may also ask to write an online test. The students can also get PPO/PPI from some of the listed companies.
