Which one should I choose: TAPMI, FORE, or LBSIM?

SR
Simpal Rai Posted On : February 28th, 2023
MCom from Indira Gandhi National Open University

Honestly speaking, TAPMI, FORE, and LBSIM are very similar in terms of curriculum. Many of my friends have completed PGDM from FORE and TAPMI. Even the comp ones that visit the campus for placements are very similar and not much comparison can be done between the 2 B Schools. The placements report too will reveal a similar list of companies visiting. Some minor differences between these B Schools are

  • TAPMI is a residential campus unlike FORE and therefore has an upper hand in this aspect. You can spend more time on group research and assignments.
  • FORE has a locational advantage compared to TAPMI as it is located in the capital city whereas TAPMI is situated on the Konkan Coast.

Recruiters consider all top 2 B Schools in the same league. What matters more than your B School choice is what you plan to do from your PGDM course.

Is NMIMS Bangalore worth joining? Which is the best, Fore, LBSIM or NMIMS Bangalore? Is NM Bangalore placements report inflated?

BG
Bidita Ghose Posted On : May 17th, 2023
Lives in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

According to the official placement report of NMIMS Bangalore, the average placement was 14 LPA.

Many MBA colleges provide placement report which is inflated, they made a few students who opt out of the placement process. However, this is not the case with NMIMS Bangalore, the data provided by them is quite accurate.

If you have any offers from IIMs (baby and new) then go for it otherwise NMIMS is a decent option and between NMIMS, LBSIM, and FORE. The average salary offered at LBSIM is 12.42 LPA, and the average salary at FORE has been 14.5 LPA in recent years.

Which one is a better college to pursue an MBA: LBSIM -Delhi or BIM-Trichy?

AP
Alok Patel Posted On : July 5th, 2021

This is always a tough question to answer. You can consider a number of assumptions in order to shortlist the business school you would like to go to. You can compare the one you like to them and make your decision:

  • Assumption 1: Business schools presently are student-driven and this mostly has nothing to do with the faculty, infrastructure, or even the knowledge capital for that matter. The classroom is the place that will facilitate you with all these opportunities and knowledge will be disseminated here. This needs to be applied to activities outside the classroom as well.
  • Assumption 2: Alumni are an important factor for colleges. Because of alumni connections, a lot of places like FMS, JBIMS, IMT Ghaziabad are quite well-known business schools.
  • Assumption 3: Part of who you become also depends on what activities you choose to pursue in college. These include clubs and committees, business school events, or if you choose to only focus on academics and get a good CGPA. This will surely help you get good placements.
  • Assumption 4: Sometimes, the location of the school will also play to your advantage. For eg. Mumbai or Delhi located B-schools.
  • Assumption 5: You should also know that rankings do not matter for the top 10 to 15 schools.
  • Assumption 6: The placements are dependent upon the alumni base and past history. Most companies that come for repeat recruitments are usually less than 50% for most business schools. Every year it comes down to reinvention and it boils down to the alumni. But, in reality, placements are hard work and luck with a 30:70 ratio. There are also the usual perceptions that some schools are better in marketing and others are good in finance, etc.

You should choose wisely and make your decision accordingly.

How is life at LBSIM Delhi?

AS
Ayush Saha Posted On : June 24th, 2021
Post Graduate Diploma in Management at Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, New Delhi (2019)

My sister has completed her 1st year of PGDM-General this year, and according to her experience, LBSIM provides you with great opportunities all the way. Following is a general routine you can expect once you get in there.

  • Daily routine: Your day will start early with getting ready in the formals, attending classes, and having some light moments during break time. Post lunch, you will be discussing and preparing yourself for projects and presentations. You will be engaged in case studies, projects, and presentations along with the course studies. Thus, time management is the key here.
  • Opportunities: You will be provided with a plethora of opportunities to work on yourself by enrolling in clubs that match your interest.
  • Support: Seniors are quite friendly and humble enough to guide you through the learning process.
  • Infrastructure: One of the most remarkable things on campus is the Bloomberg Lab(12 terminals). Not all B-Schools in India are able to provide such insightful access to international market data.
  • Amusement: There will be cultural night and fests to break up the monotony.
  • Campus: Last, but not least, the campus might not be vast but has been efficiently utilized to provide you with a state of the art infrastructure

Overall, LBSIM Delhi provides a lifetime experience of a great curriculum, facilities, and opportunities. However, what makes it more special is the campus life as you meet new people and make memories you will cherish your whole life.

Which is better for an MBA - Nirma or LBSIM in Delhi?

KS
Krishna Srivastav Posted On : June 23rd, 2021

The choice here ultimately comes down to your interest. First, decide whether you are interested in pursuing specialized MBA courses like MBA in finance or are you more inclined towards MBA general where you can opt for a specialization in your second year.

I have some friends at LBSIM Delhi. So, can give you some insight into the institute.

Specializations: You will be having a variety of specializations to choose from if you go for LIBSIM. You will get an enormous amount of exposure in terms of corporate, guest lecturers, meet-ups with major industrialists if you opt for this B-School.

Location: When it comes to location, there is an advantage too, located in Delhi which is India's capital and surrounded by two major industrial hubs, Gurgaon and Noida.

Alumni Base: Alumni base of LIBSIM is strong and the institute has maintained an amazing placement record as well.

2021 Placements

Average CTC

9.2 LPA

Highest CTC

32 LPA

80+

Major recruiters

Classplus, Microsoft, Capgemini

Other B-Schools in India ranging equal in terms of ranking like Nirma fail to meet up the expectations of students as LIBSIM has set the bar too high.

What kind of interview questions can we expect from LBSIM for PGDM finance?

SG
Sunetra Ghose Posted On : March 7th, 2022
MBA Finance, Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, New Delhi (2018)

One of my friends applied for PGDM Finance at LBSIM last year and was shortlisted for the interview round. Here are the questions that he had to answer during his interview.

There was a year gap after his graduation, so they asked what he did in that time period. He explained that he was self-employed. After the brief introduction, the following questions were asked.

  • How will you explain balance sheet to students?
  • Tell us something about Gearing ratio.
  • Share your views about direct and indirect expenses.
  • Tell us about Lawrence Curve.
  • Tell us about Debt equity ratio.

To his surprise, he wasn’t asked the general questions like Why MBA? Strength and weakness, etc. Overall his experience was good and he was able to convert the call.

Which is better PGDM finance or PGDM (General) from LBSIM?

MS
Malabika Sengupta Posted On : July 7th, 2021
MBA Operations & Marketing, Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad (2018)

The ranking of LBSIM is not that great as it doesn't appear on the list of top 10 business management institutes of India. But if you want to do PGDM from this college, then go for PGDM finance as this domain comes in the list of the top 10 careers.

The future of PGDM finance is very good and if you had commerce during your graduation, then it will get very easy to understand the concepts and complete your syllabus, but if you aren't from a commerce background, then it can be difficult for you to cope up with the syllabus.

The placement opportunities of LBSIM are very good as the placement records are 100% and around 96 companies visit the campus for interviews.

Hence, PGDM finance from LBSIM will be a very good option as this course comes in the list of top 10 courses and the placement records are also very good for this course.
